“Handy location just as you come into a Palm Springs”
Reviewed November 30, 2013 via mobile

We stayed for a couple of nights for a quick visit to Joshua Tree National Park. The room was well fitted out and clean, with a good bathroom. Breakfast was tasty from the diner across the road. Staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful.

We just returned home after two nights at The Monroe, and feel like we left our family behind! Never before have we felt more welcome in any of our travels - The entire staff, from the front desk, to the maintenance and housekeeping team could not have offered more attentive care. The recent renovation was carefully and beautifully done - both with quality workmanship and aesthetic appeal, and every attention to detail is provided by the entire staff. Drop in for the afternoon cookies and lemonade, take advantage of the grab and go breakfast if you don't have time for the complimentary hot one across the street, and much appreciation for the assistance (thank you Steve) with printing our boarding passes for a smooth flight home. It would be enough of a recommendation that this hotel is kept SO clean, but all of the other nice details put it on a must return list for us.

Room Tip: We were on the street end, overlooking the pool, and thought it was a great location - we were even...

Green Features: Obviously, green technology went into the recent renovation - with many heat/cool options, and all the lights have motion sensors (although, I use the switch, so because I never left the lights on, the maintenance manager checked in on me to see if they were working to my satisfaction.)

We have stayed here at the Monroe the 2 times we have visited Palm Springs. Both stays were
equally nice. Steven at the front desk was welcoming and helpful each time. Very clean and
nice decor, with super comfy beds and plenty of pillows.

I saw very good reviews from another site and got an excellent rate. I had the impression it was close to the Convention Center but it is not. The staff are so nice. They treat you like you have been friends forever. I don't like rooms with outside doors but this is a very nice, quiet and safe property.

I normally like to stay a little closer to the main strip but left my booking until the last day, so the monroe looked a good bet for under a C-spot. It's on the north end and recently redecorated - quite decently as well. I was travelling with my daughter as well and so this one one of the few that had two beds, further narrowing the search. I'd have given it a three star were it not for the excellent management - there were three problems with minor things in the room (lights, light timer and bathroom door latch) and all three were fixed while we went out to dinner. Of all the hundreds of hotels I've stayed in, this is the first time that such things were fixed so quickly and so properly - kudos.
Both Canyon drive on the back end and Palm Canyon on the front side are busy roads and noisy in the morning, so a poolside is quieter. The pool is also nice.
You get $3 per person coupons for Rick's across the road for breakfast, which I can tell you, doesn't go far there, although it is a great bacon and egg joint. On the second morning, we went down the street to the Mariposa Cafe in Los Arboles for a lovely courtyard brekky.

Room Tip: poolside rooms are quieter

Free WiFi, HOT breakfast and parking included in the price. Recently renovated sleeping rooms with a comfortable bed and a large screen TV. Staff is very friendly and accommodating, service with a smile. Unexpected amenities (coffee, fruit and breakfast bars in the morning; water, lemonade and cookies in the evening) are provided at the registration area. Would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Palm Springs, may not be as close to downtown as other properties but it is just a cab ride away and less expensive (no resort fees) overall.
