“STOP!! - Your search is over. This is the place...”
Reviewed June 26, 2009

Initially I had planned on staying at one of the pricey bigger hotels. But my partner-in-crime suggested the Desert Riviera from all the rave reviews. I admit I was skeptical. But when we got there Larry & Patty were so welcoming. They immediately offered us something to drink - Water, Beer, wine. While in the lobby I noticed there are a bookcases full of DVD's, books, and games for you to use. No charge. (It was refreshing to see that most of the DVD's were current). Larry grabbed some keys and gave us the tour, and showed us the rooms. Bicycles parked outside the lobby for everyone to use. I was so impressed how clean and up to date everything was. We stayed in room #6 which had a little kitchenette. (Much nicer and bigger than the room with the private patio). Couple waters, sodas in the fridge - free. Basket of snacks - free. You know if you just touch the food and drink in other hotels, you get charged. Not here. The pool right in front of us. Nice table and chairs situated near the pool for you to sit, have coffee, and read the paper. Misters are turned on if its hot to keep you cool. Nice. I think the best part was the atmosphere: The personal touch from Patty, Judy, & Larry; the relaxed feeling of home. The people staying in the hotel would stop and chat with each other. Have drinks by the pool. - Where as, at a larger hotel, people are a little intimidated to talk to strangers. And more apt to keep to themselves. Its a bit little down the street from the main part of downtown. There are restaurants nearby. We drove in, so transportation wasn't an issue. I'm just sorry we had to leave. Do yourself a favor, don't look any further. This is the place - Trust Me!

This makes the fourth or fifth time we've stayed at the Desert Riviera Hotel, it is a perfect getaway to just relax or do "whatever." Larry, Patty and Judy are fabulous and very helpful with any questions and suggestions on restaurants or things to do. They are very attentive and have always made our stay wonderful - we consider it our "home away from home!" The hotel rooms and property are immaculate and they take great care to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. We are already planning our next trip!

Having read the reviews on TripAdvisor we were looking forward to a wonderful stay at the Desert Riviera and we weren't disappointed! The hotel was idyllic, the room perfect (number 4) and Larry and the team were fantastic. We will definitely recommend this hotel to all our friends and family.
The hotel is ideally situated outside of downtown Palm Springs and parking is very easy. There is a great coffee shop opposite and just a stroll away are two good restaurants - Davey's Hideaway and the local mexican which both seem popular with the locals.
The hotel's poolside setting is wonderful - and on those 'chilly' days when it was only 90 degrees or so Larry turned up the pool heating. in the morning we had breakfast outside of the room - just us and the humming birds. Sitting at the firepit in the evenings with a bottle of wine (purchased at a discount from Ralph's supermarket) was fantastic for us Brits - at home this sort of thing is rare!
An additional bonus is the free wi-fi and use of the telephone - even for international calls.
We didn't use the bikes but they were there to use each day and do look really cool.

Our advice - go as soon as possible!

Judy and Larry are the kindest hosts, so gracious and welcoming. We stayed for only one night, and will certainly return. The hotel is comfortable, clean with all the amenities others describe. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. Thanks again Judy and Larry for having us! Sherie' and Dave

My wife and I stayed in May 2009 as part of a trip to celebrate 30 yrs married. After an awful seven and a half hour drive from Las Vegas on Memorial Day ths place was the perfect antidote. Beautiful pool / garden area with very nice loungers, tables, chairs and umberellas. The rooms are very nicely furnished and came with a welcome pack of complementary snacks, cold water, coke etc, even beer or wine while you check in!
All the reviews here praise the hotel, rooms and wonderful staff, I can't say any more than has already been said except confirm that it's all true. If you visit having read all the reviews you will be expecting something special, you will not be disappointed. As good as you expect it to be I guarantee the reality will be better.
Keep up the good work Larry and Judy and thanks for a great stay.
Phil and Barbara Walker.

Desert Riviera is an awesome hotel not to be missed. I agree with all the reviews this is a lovely hotel. We received such a warm welcome, and a much needed cold drink on arrival. Its just like visiting family, home from home. I loved the fact all rooms face the pool, and there is a tree by the pool which the local hummingbirds visit daily for nectar. There are retro bicycles that you can borrow (for free) and cycle into Palm springs, complimentary coffee in reception, and they supply a discount number for Ralphs Supermarket just down the road (saved us about $50!). If I am in Palm Springs again, I will stay here again - no doubt about that.

The best hotel we have ever stayed! All good things written in other reviews are true. Great service, friendly staff, spacious and comfortable rooms, wonderful pool only a few steps away from your room! Free-be's like limo ride to town center, bikes, soda, fruit and snacks.
The only downside we can think of is that you don't ever want to leave!
