Despite spending a large part of my life travelling, I have never before took the time to write a review, but Larry and his staff deserve this praise.
The quality of the hotel, from the rooms through to the warmness of the staff that have the good fortune to work there is most impressive. Despite the intimacy of the hotel, Larry has decided to provide a 5 Star service and his attention to detail is amazing.

Thank you for making the short visit a memorable one with a determination to visit you again soon.

This is a great spot. It feels like you are staying at a good friend's private residence. The owners and staff are super friendly, called us by name when we arrived and handed us a glass of wine. Rooms are nice and clean, well appointed and come with free goodies and snacks. This property is very well kept and has a nice warm and casual feel. Not pretentious at all, so if you a expecting the Ritz, this is likely not for you. It has more the feel of a cozy bed and breakfast inn. We enjoyed the free bicycles, endless coffee, fruit and snacks. Rolled out of bed n the morning and went straight to the pool, just 30 feet from the door of every room. Sat by the outdoor fire pit, basking in the sun, enjoying the Sunday paper and coffee. Perfect!

Room Tip: There are studio units (with mini-refrigerators and microwaves) and full kitchenette units and suites.

(I'm somewhat reluctant to rate this hotel, as I do not want this place to always be booked if I need a reservation!) However, in the past when in Palm Springs, I've stayed at the (old) Riviera Resort and the Wyndham, both "old" and renovated (preferred the "old"). My experience at this hotel surpassed all my past Palm Springs lodging experiences. Judy and Steve felt like old friends. We didn't want to leave. I appreciate how the other residents were quiet, something very important to me. So much to praise about how this place is run: from the suggestions on where to dine (perfect), to suggestions of which DVDs to watch in the fabulously comfortable and clean room. Topnotch in every way.

We started going to Desert Riviera when it first opened. We were skeptical thinking one day it would simply slide into reputation mode and not pay attention to the nuances which makes it an excellent choice in Palm Springs. We're delighted to report that's not the case.
We spent another Christmas holiday at Desert Riviera. Our days include meeting other guests poolside, enjoying "Two Buck Chuck" and the random treats we all threw together over the course of our stay. This year, one guest purchased steaks to share with others and the quality beef was expertly barbequed (French seared) by Steve. Christmas morning we were treated to a stocking stuffed with treats and a note from Larry and Patty hanging on our door. A tasty casual Christmas barbeque dinner was offered to guests who chose to remain at the hotel. The day after Christmas, Jay (who offers the limo service) advised us he had only one run and if a small group of us wanted to go on a limo light tour of Palm Springs. What a treat!
I will say we booked late this year (Oct; we know better) and were relieved Judy could confirm our desired room (take note). Once again we were delighted with our stay and look forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: I do recommend poolside to avoid traffic noise on Palm Canyon. #1 might be exposed to noise from the firepit (though the firepit does shut down early).

This is a really nice spot and the service is fantastic. They give you a free glass of wine and free snacks/water in the room, which opens up a bigger question: these little things go a long way...why are big hotels/airlines, etc. always trying to nickel and dime you? Given the cost is really so low to give someone free snacks/water etc. why not just do it? Seems to make good business sense, and yet big companies are always trying to screw you. Probably why this little hotel (which honestly without the service would be no different from any other little hotel) has top ratings on trip advisor.

And now after my business rant, try and go on Thurs night as there is a great street fair! There is a limo service as well which is kind of fun!
