We really enjoyed our hike in Indian Canyon. Remember to be prepared it is hot and dry & steep once you get out of the palm oasis. Beautiful views and great excersize. Well worth the visit

“Great Place to Hike”
Reviewed February 20, 2014

We were not sure if it was worth paying money to hike around Palm Springs, CA. BUT, it was worth every penny. The Indian Canyons are on tribal land so you do pay a minimal fee ($6 for seniors) to enter the area. There are about a dozen trails that run from easy to hard climbs. The loop trail is only one mile and fairly level. It takes you through a river valley with many nice palms that give you a shaded walk. The 4 mile round trip back up to the water falls is worth the effort. You end up at a nice water falls (even in this drought condition here) that has cool water and shade. You can walk in behind the falls and up to the top. There are other hikes that are up to 15 miles. Great place to spend the day. There is a small trading post to get snacks, food and drinks.

“Interesting hikes”
Reviewed February 19, 2014

We've been here more than once and find it very interesting. The best short hike is Andreas, about a half mile, all oasis. The other ones are more strenuous (hot, desert terrain, longer) eventually ending up at oasis so it just depends on your stamina.

Very beautiful scenery, good hiking, and a great trading post, at 10 am the Ranger talk, it is worth it. Don't forget the water and sun screen.
