My son and I stayed at the Palm Canyon Resort for 4 nights in September '06.We loved it! Large 2 bedroom 2 bath villa with a fully equipped kitchen even had a blender for mixing various frozen libations.Nicely appointed furniture and the beds were very comfortable.
Pool was great, large adult side and smaller version for the kiddies,2 whirlpools including 1 inside of a rock enclave that also houses the 2 water slides.Very cool cabana bar and outside dining.
We mainly went to play golf and you will find several nice courses to play within 5 miles of here including Indian Canyons which is right across the street.
Very short, less than 2 miles to Downtown Palm Springs and many fine restaurants. My favorites are Kaiser Grill and The Chop House.Yes,very nice place, made even nicer by the cost.Travel Tip: Since this is a timeshare hotel you are entitled to stay for a week; So call them directly to book and find airfare seperately. This will save you big bucks as opposed to booking a package deal.Cheers!

As I've read in another write up about this resort, it isn't a five star resort. I wish I had read that before we booked it last summer. We did find the staff friendly and bedding/beds clean and comfortable. Alot to do around the area--Palm Desert zoo, movies, malls, Aerial tram, great eateries. Dislikes:security issues with our room--keyless entry disabled twice and a 12:30 pm attempted entry from another guest who was assigned our room and given a key three days into our stay!! Dishwasher overflowed and ran into the carpet area. Now I know why their was a constant musty smell when we arrived. Maintance was quick to clean up and fix the problem and the front desk was apologetic for the key issues. If you enjoy the crowds this is a place for you. The resort packs alot of people into a small space and small pool. If that is your thing you'll love it here! Interval International resort/timeshare owner

My wife and I just returned from this resort. We have been to many four-five star resorts (6 Carribean, three LA and Phoenix).
This resort is wonderful. Friendly helpful staff, great service at the pool, excellent food at a very reasonable price, Unbelievable pool and hot tub area, and large clean rooms with all the towels you could ask for. We went with friends and we all agreed this was great value and unparrelled service.
I don't know what has changed or if some people expect Hyatt regency service at super 8 prices but we will definitely go back. The only drawback is the hallways show their age but the rooms and ammenities sure don't.

We are Interval Time Share owners out of Canada and exchanged our week there for a week here. We read the Trip Advisor reviews on most places prior to our stays, but try to take them with a grain of salt - both good and bad. We try not to get too excited or too depressed. We have travelled a lot and have stayed from top of the line places to some occassional budget places and in then in the middle.

This resort COULD be much nicer, but chooses not to be.

Our Bldg: We had room 3233 on the 2nd floor in the Oasis bldg. facing the pool and mountains. That seems to be the best bldg as far as the view would be concerned, so request it. HOWEVER, the reviews are accurrate when they say the bldgs are beat up and the rooms surprisingly dingy.

Our Room: Our room was a one bedroom. Not a bad size for two. We had very badly stained carpets in dining and living room. Our suite looked very much like the previous pics of Oasis rooms. The kitchen looked like a college kitchenette with beat up and dented smaller fridge, rust all around the sink, old old counter, old old, cupboards and as big as a minute. The dining room was large, but we had a tiny table for 4 in the middle and so the room looked silly and empty and only 4 could eat at the table and they'd be cramped. Living room had one sofa, two chairs. Faces the pool. Bathroom was gross. Cracked toilet seat, cracked tub, rusted out drain, black mold all on bottom of tub near floor and baseboard, big chip in mirror and the nastiest thing was the light switch area was so flithy it was black. Shocking!!! - and we aren't people who can afford the Ritz. The bedroom was the best of the rooms and seemed the cleanest, but the lamp shades all had water stains all over them. Bed was good. Seemed new. The wall and corners all have been beat up and are black with marks and bangs from things. I mean black and beat up severly! Haven't been painted in years. Based on previous reviews we ASKED for a refurbished room and were told with a smile "All rooms have been recently refurbished." Of course we know this is not true now and I think for most people using this resort as an exchange and seeing it having the Interval 5 star (not really a 5 star rating) rating would be disappointed. The rooms are just not near good enough and there is no excuse for that type of staining on the carpets, filth and dingyness everywhere. The hotel chooses not to update or be clean or keep things a certain standard and you have to block it out.

The Pool: The pool is nice and is large and was enjoyable no doubt. Fun slide and seemed to be pretty clean. Ample lounges - at least in Oct. There were missing pool tiles that easily could be repaired and at a better resort, they would be, but again - this resort chooses to be very rough on details and thus we feel should not get Interval's 5 star rating as we have indeed stayed at places that do deserve it. The pool side can be slippery for no reason and I saw several men slip just walking. There is no music playing that anyone can hear and that is too bad. The outside bldgs and pool area could be painted to freshen the white up, but again this place doesn't care about that. I would NEVER buy a timeshare if I did my tour at this resort, but whatever. The pool is decent and had plenty of towels, but it is still average and nothing spectacular and the bar is below average for selection, price and presentation. Just junky bar food. Slushies are $5 each. I think everyone is pretty bored that works there and I can't blame them. It is not a hot spot.

There is nothing but the 3 or 4 bldgs and the pool. The resort doesn't have any grounds per say. The lobby is nice, but nothing amazing and it is small. There is underground parking and outdoor parking, but limited of course and we could imagine in high season it would be tough to get one or the other.

I think the resort is average and not what we were hoping for but we made the best of it and tried to focus on the positives when we found some - our view, the nice pool and our bed was comfortable and seemed new. It presents itself well from afar but up close it is only average - that is the best way to describe this resort.

We stayed at the Star Island Resort & Club last Oct in Orlando and it is MUCH better and deserves the 5 star Interval Rating. (people have to understand that 5 star with Interval is like a 3 or 4 star in the real world. It will NEVER be the Ritz which is 5 or 6 star in the real world.)

It is a very average resort and if that is okay you will be fine. We survived and it was okay. It isn't scary, just not what you will be hoping for. We didn't stay in our room much at all so that was good. We were always out or by the pool. The kitchen was one you didn't feel like cooking in.

We are very reasonable travellers and we know great from average and average from terrible. This is average and heading below average - at least in the rooms. The laundry is not in the suite as many places are, but down the hall and you must PAY which we have NEVER had to do before as Interval members. So whatever.

We gave the resort (should not be called a resort) a bad review b/c that is what it deserved b/c no one deserves to have a room so stained, dirty, out dated, old and beat up. That is just not fair. We aren't a bunch of college kids in Mazatlan for the weekend. We are Interval members and have paid to have a time share and should get better than this.

But, go see for yourself and write a review.
Maybe someday the resort will refurbish and become something special.
