The latkes are out of this world delicious! Best I have ever had. Martzah ball soup was also fabulous.

“A Little Slice of Hollywood, Florida That Is.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

Jewish? So, whose asking?! This place is a little slice of Hollywood, Fla. in the desert. It won't leave you verklempt, but OK, that's not so bad. Nice people, nice food. So, what's not to like? Well, maybe the 1980's decor. I'm not trying to be rude here, I'm just sayin . . .

The sandwiches are massive. Do yourself a favor and get the Lite Lunch Special. Half of a stacked masterpiece with either soup or salad. It will still leave you with no room for dessert. And oy, what desserts!

Breakfast is also very good. The potato pancakes or latkes are yummy in the tummy.

Go. Enjoy. Discuss.

“Oy, a Jewish deli in the middle of the desert”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2012

Sherman's is a trip back in time and space. It has been years since I've been to one as the southwest has great food but very few Jewish delis. We ate there 3 times -- once at breakfast and twice at lunch. The smoked whitefish was excellent, the bagels great, and the sandwiches were piled high with meat -- just like they should be. The tongue was tender, the corned beef flavorful, the gefilte fish and latkes very good, and the pickles were crisp and delicious. It's very crowded at the regular eating times so if you don't like noise and the hustle and bustle of a busy restaurant, come at off times. The deli was great. We tried several types of cookies and the New York cheesecake, all of which were outstanding. The only down note was one of our waitresses who was not terribly friendly, but overlook that and go anyway. The food is worth a little tsuris.

“Old Stand By”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2012

Ok, the front desk people are a little cheesy and the wait staff is anything like what you would expect in a NY or Chicago deli, but the food is pretty decent and the prices are pretty fair. Tonight our bowls of soup came out hot, but the soup inside was warm. The chopped liver had too much schmaltz in it (rendered fat), making it too "wet" and pasty. Do not expect too much here, and if you want better deli, I would suggest that you try Manhattan in the Desert on Hwy 111 east of Sunrise.

“Mile high cake solves late night sweet-tooth”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2012

While staying at the Hilton across the street, we visited Sherman's for a late night dessert run. One slide of cake can feed six. It is so nice to come across a real deli with a line coming out the front door. The only compalin we had was they were out of black and white cookies when we visited.
