Friends took us to Billy Reed's Restaurant for lunch recently. We had not been there before, but our friends were acquainted with the owners and had been there before. The atmosphere is warm, filled with antiques and interesting art work. Menu items were moderately priced and generous in proportion. I had the Cobb salad, which was as good as any Cobb Salad I have had. My husband's Reuben sandwich was good, too. In addition to the restaurant, a large bar is available, and is a good place for friends to meet up.

The place oozes atmosphere! It is an establishment that has been around for about 40 years and seems to be well known. We went for an evening of dancing, and checked the menu. The appetizer menu (for small bites)was not something we would have enjoyed,as it featured a selection of deep fried foods, and apart from a shrimp cocktail there was nothing worth ordering. We ordered a bottle of water as we were thirsty and found that they wanted over $4.00,which worked out to $5.00 with a tip for the waitress.(This was not a fancy mineral water, just "Arrowhead"!) The other food selections are fairly typical American fare. We ate there once and found that they featured a lot of "comfort food"-very heavy, lots of fries and gravy, but few lighter choices. At that time we opted for a salad. If you are looking for big helpings of standard American fare, want to top things off with a huge piece of pie for dessert and ditch any dietary concerns, you have found your place. The helpings are ample enough to share or take home.
For friends of dancing at Billy Reed's: as of February 1,2013 there will be no more dancing at this establishment.

This place delivers huge portions. The food is good - not the best - but still good. You can't beat the prices and the service is excellent. We liked the bread offerings and the salads a lot. The menu is typical American fare so if that is what you are looking for, this is the place!

Excellent Food! Excellent Service! Love that this is not just a "cookie cutter" restaurant! Prices are moderate, but a good value for what you get. This is my favorite place to eat when I am in Palm Springs. All of the beautiful antiques are worth the visit.

This is the third or fourth time we have eaten at this restaurant over about the same number of years (we live far away), and the experience is always the same: great! The food is high quality, very nicely prepared and presented. The service is understated yet prompt and efficient. And the atmosphere "belongs" to Palm Springs. It is easy to imagine Bob Hope or Bing Crosby strolling through the classic bar or Fred Astair gliding across the dance floor. In spite of the "old time" charm, the facilities are in good condition, the furniture is comfortable and it is just a great place to meet friends for a good meal.

Warning, this is NOT the place to go for diet food! The servings are ample and the content is mostly rich. Delicious, though!
