Description: Established in the heart of Palm Springs since 1973, Le Vallauris located at the foot of San Jacinto Mountains has been the highest rated restaurant in the Palm Springs Valley since its inception. Owned and operated by the well known restaurateur Paul Bruggemans who was also owner of the Famous Le St Germain restaurant in Hollywood. The Historic Landmark was built in 1927 and was owned by the owners of the famous Desert Inn which was The hotel in the Valley. Many grand parties were held in the house for guests such as Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong and many more. It was a favorite place for General Patton when he was based in Palm Springs to stage the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. Later on, when the restaurant was established it became a favorite place for Presidents and the Hollywood elite. The renowned Patio lined with Giant Fichus trees is THE place to dine. The Patio is cooled in the Summer and heated in the Winter.

Great romantic spot in convenient Palm Springs location for foodies. The place and the food reminded me of fine dining in Provence. We had the $58 prix fixe, which started with a small plate of melon/proschutto, a glass of vichychoise and some pate, then and incredible bean, mozzarella and tomatoe salad, followed by roasted cod on puree of eggplant, topped off with creme brulee. All food was incredible. The service was excellent and the spot romantic. Recommend eating on the patio.

The outdoor patio is incredible and very memorable. The service is excellent. The wine list is excellent. The food is very good. The owner comes around and visits with the guest.

The prix-fixe menu is a good deal. I got the prix-fixe menu and my date ordered items à la carte.

I was underwhelmed by the lobster bisque. The sea bass had great flavors, but the fish was firmer than I expected. The lobster ravioli was good. We had a terrific shrimp/avocado/passion fruit appetizer. We enjoyed the lemon soufflé for dessert. If I come back here, I will probably try the meat dishes next time; they looked very good.

Took out of towners there Fe 16 - busy night as it was the Valetine week. My guests know good hospitality. Patrice was in control as usual. Paul and Tony both took the time to provide a nice warm welcome and spent time at the table so that I could introduce my guests. Of course the food was special but that goes without saying. They als, have a good variety of single malts which makes the evening. Le Vallauris exceeds expectations every time I go there.

We have been vacationing in PS for 10 days now, and being a dyed-in-the-wool foodie, have been hard pressed to find great food of note here in the desert. It's true that Palm Springs is pretty much a culinary wasteland, but there are gems to be found, (see my previous reviews) and many hopes that Palm Springs can move beyond menus geared towards geriatric and "frat boy" staem-table cuisine palates. One of the best plates in town is La Vallauris, where the food, presentation, ambience, and service are all executed perfectly. Ignore the prices (high) and go for the experience. We had the Sunday brunch which is a price fixe 3-course meal with GOOD champers. I won't comment on the individual dishes which included a smoked salmon wild frise salad, a cingale pate with endive and cornichons, and a tomatoe terrine with Burata, for our starters. Mains included a wonderful eggs Benne with procuitto and asparagus, a duck confit served on a frisse salad, and unctuious beef cheeks in a Cab reduction..... Everything was spectacular, not one flavor out of place on the plates. Wish we had time to go back for dinner, but we'll save that for our next trip.

Based on reviews expected more. The entire experience seems dated: menu selections, room, staff on tuxedos and especially the guy playing. "Feelings". On the key board. Not bad, but not current.
