“A different take on Mexican food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2013

A new restaurant for us.... only been opened a few months. The food was pretty good, and a different take on Mexican. I had Chile Verde, and it wasn't typical small pieces of pork in a green sauce. There were large pieces of meat, very tender, that were very tasty. They also had a creamy white rice, in addition to the usual Spanish rice - very good! Very attentive staff, and great wine list, with a variety of wines!

“Really really great food.”

Had a really good dinner at this new Latin cuisine resturant. The Diego Margarita is amazing. Great fish, chicken enchiladas, stuffed chilles, and pork chop. Will be back again very soon.

“Casa de Frida Palm Springs”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2013

I have never enjoyed "Mexican Food"; the gooey, drenched in cheese, mess on my plate.
Well! Casa de Frida has redeemed Latino food forever. Authentic, clean, magnificent on the palate and beautiful to behold. THIS is what food is about and its hard to understand why more people don't demand this of restaurants. Less is more. Just the freshest ingredients, local and spiced with skill. THIS is why we dine out. To have a meal better than you could ever prepare at home. Case de Frida was our best meal in Palm Springs. Maybe more "Mexican" restaurants in North America just might follow the lead.

“Wonderful mole!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013

This place is an undiscovered gem. Hardly anyone in the place - just a few tables occupied. Hubby had the mole - he is a real mole aficienado, and knows good and bad mole when he tastes it! Apparently the chef is using his Mexican grandmother's recipes, and the mole was amng the best he has ever had. I had the Enchalada Suisse with black beans and spanish rice - really really good. The black beans and the rice were perfectly cooked and very flavorful. We did have to ask for tortillas though, and the waitress must have been new because she told us they did not have flour tortillas! She came back though and said she was mistaken. Of course they have flour tortillas.......

The decor is very nice, with masks and unique objects from Mexico scattered around the room. The menu features dishes from other Latin countries as well, including Argentina and Venezuela. Very interesting menu.

Okay, now I'm going to share something negative you, and the restaurant, should heed. I'm not sure how long this place is going to be around, although it only opened in November. The place has four investers - one is the chef. Two of the owner partners were dining near us. One of the two women began berating the other in a very loud voice, basically being overheard by everyone in the restaurant. She was talking about having bad and slow service, saying she was not going to put any more money in the restaurant, couldn't bring anyone there, and that it ws her partner's responsibility to fix these matters, and just going on and on in a very beligerant and public way. It was embarrassing to hear, and must have been horrible for the partner being yelled at, being subjected to this public humiliation.

So enjoy your mole and enchaladas while you can, because there is definitely trouble at Fridas, and given the lack of diners, and the public chewing out, I would give it a less than 50/50 chance!

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2013 via mobile

The food and the staff are top notch. This place is fairly new and deserves wonderful rating for where they are at so far. I was visiting from MN and went twice in that week. If I were local I would make weekly visits. This place will just keep getting better and better. Great decor and ambiance
