Description: Dedicated to food, drink, design, and community. Workshop Kitchen + Bar is Palm Spring's newest gem in the heart of the Uptown Design District. Located in the Class 1 Historic El Paseo building from 1926, Workshop’s Industrial chic interior gives the historic space a contemporary edge befitting the locale. Our kitchen is based around seasonal products from local farms, so the menu changes often. Although "Americana" may best describe the style of our food, influences are many. Favorite techniques in the kitchen include our wood-fired pizza oven, wood-fired grill, and custom sous-vide station. The bar looks mostly to American classics and carefully homemade basics. Original cocktails vary with the market's availability and our bartender's mood. * Please note: Booth seating is limited and is reserved for parties of 3 - 6. We will do our best to accommodate your requests, but make no guarantees. For special requests, please call us at (760) 459-3451. *

My husband and I were In town with for a conference and came here with another couple upon a friends recommendation. The space is totally hip with a downtown vibe. The type of place you would expect to find on Stanton street in NYC. We had a very friendly, attentive and helpful server. We all wanted to try the, "Palm Springer," one of the specialty drinks they are known for. Since we all ordered the same thing she suggested we get a pitcher, but would bring it in a bowl. It was surveyed in an old fashioned cut glass punch bowl with matching cups...so fun! It was as if we were at a cotillion!

We started with the octopus carpaccio along with two others. The carpaccio was delish, but the other two were less than memorable. We then shared the pork chop and the veggie enchilada. The enchilada was delicious but the pork chop was dry and tasteless.

Over all this was a really fun night. The atmosphere and drinks were great but the dinner was just ok.

Indeed a hip place. But that's it. Our request to sit outside, was ignored. We had to wait 15min. before the waiter showed up. Another 10 min for a drink. When asking a couple of questions regarding the wine the waitress wasn't able to answer. Food: The roasted carrots were nice, but the rest of the food was mediocre. Bread was burned black. And the waitress finally came back to explain the wine, when we where almost done with dinner. Farm to table is a nice concept. But it should certainly include hospitality. Please work in it....

This place was recommended to us by friends who own a home in PS. I am so glad we took their advice. We went on a Monday evening, so we had no problem making a rez on OpenTable and the restaurant wasn't too busy. It was a lovely, warm evening so we ate outside on their patio under the stars (a thrill for a couple of still-frozen northern boys). Beautiful space/ambiance; friendly, unobtrusive service; and hands-down the best meal we ate in Palm Springs all week. I would go back to Workshop Kitchen in a flash.

Wonderful dinner here last night with friends. Menu offers excellent choices with creative pairings that are inventive without being outlandish. Signature cocktails are superb - read the witty descriptions like for The Palm Springer. Service was impeccable, wait staff very knowledgeable about menu choices and how they are prepared. Highly recommend!

See the previous reviews by RLP 50 and Walter V for a description of the food. The choices are eclectic and the food was excellent. The service leaves much to be delivered at the prices charged by this restaurant. When asked for pepper, the server brought salt and pepper shakers. As we were eating our main meal, a server brought us two salads and initially seemed surprised when we told him he must have the wrong table. When he realized his mistake, we all laughed as he told us he had been working too many hours.

With excellent service, I would have given this restaurant a 4+ rating for food and average rating for value..
