Description: Dedicated to food, drink, design, and community. Workshop Kitchen + Bar is Palm Spring's newest gem in the heart of the Uptown Design District. Located in the Class 1 Historic El Paseo building from 1926, Workshop’s Industrial chic interior gives the historic space a contemporary edge befitting the locale. Our kitchen is based around seasonal products from local farms, so the menu changes often. Although "Americana" may best describe the style of our food, influences are many. Favorite techniques in the kitchen include our wood-fired pizza oven, wood-fired grill, and custom sous-vide station. The bar looks mostly to American classics and carefully homemade basics. Original cocktails vary with the market's availability and our bartender's mood. * Please note: Booth seating is limited and is reserved for parties of 3 - 6. We will do our best to accommodate your requests, but make no guarantees. For special requests, please call us at (760) 459-3451. *

“Fantastic flavor, great menu”
Reviewed January 8, 2014 via mobile

I was delighted to try this restaurant in the heart of Palm Springs. We were waiting to pick someone up at the airport and it is conveniently only 10 minutes away. The menu was lovely! As a vegetarian I had absolutely no trouble ordering. And my husband, who is NOT vegetarian, also enjoyed a full range of selections And especially his burger. The flavors were fantastic. The only wish I have is that the environment, while very funky, was a little bit warmer. There was a little bit too much concrete and steel for my liking. However, in their favor, I will say that they got the acoustics right in all of the booths, it made conversation very easy.

I would highly recommend that you stop by, it was well worth it.

“very hip / popular restaurant - BUSY”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

Busy place, with patio and inside seating. Great $$ cocktails and appies. Cool Concrete booths+tables+walls, but do feel a bit on the cozy side. Reservations a must.

“Design Gone Awry”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

This is what happens when the restaurant designer is more concerned with "concept" than with diner comfort. Dining booths along the walls are fashioned out of tall concrete boxes and are not generous with space. Large people be forewarned. While the concrete seats are somewhat cushioned with leather padding, diners are forced to sit uncomfortably perpendicular to the concrete table with no lumbar support. Similarly, diners at a long, concrete community table running down the center of the space sit on support-free backless and armless cushioned cubes. This cannot be comfortable dining.

My partner's shaved Brussels sprouts salad app was, according to him, excellent. My fries app done in duck fat were mealy and tasteless. A grass-fed rib eye steak for two main and a burger main were not impressive, the burger being over cooked and dry.

Our server practically invited herself to join our party with copious and odious usage of the words "we" and "our". A declined suggestion that "we" share "our" (my) appetizer with each other was met nevertheless with delivery of sharing utensils. She's lucky she got a tip.

This place has quite a buzz (no sound attenuation in this concrete-concept place) despite the high prices. If it weren't for the priciness of the place, it might get an "average" rating; but at these prices one might expect more than uncomfortable seating, mediocre food and an annoying server, hence the "poor" rating.

“Trendy, ingredient-conscious addition to PS food options”
Reviewed December 27, 2013

Went for dinner a few days before Christmas. Made a reservation at 6:45 and when one of our party was delayed on the road, gracious staff changed it to 7:30. We sat in a booth near the bar. Some parties sit at a long communal table in the middle of the room on stools - this might not be for everyone. There's also a lovely courtyard off the main drag, which looked great (but it was too cold for outdoor dining the night we were there). Great cocktails and amazing fries. We also enjoyed the small plate of Brussels sprouts. My veggie enchilada with a duck egg was very good. My dining companions both ordered a beef stroganoff special, which was meh. Our server was very nice, if a bit harried - it was a busy night. I think this place will develop well. We're glad there's this new option in PS and will return.

“Great ambiance and service but expensive.”
Reviewed December 27, 2013

Enjoyed our dinner on the patio at Workshop Kitchen but it is over priced. Granted the good is tasty but you are paying 18.00 for a bowl of soup. Also they need to update the menu on the website. All the listed items weren't available. I did love the patio and it was nice and warm under the heaters.
