Description: Dedicated to food, drink, design, and community. Workshop Kitchen + Bar is Palm Spring's newest gem in the heart of the Uptown Design District. Located in the Class 1 Historic El Paseo building from 1926, Workshop’s Industrial chic interior gives the historic space a contemporary edge befitting the locale. Our kitchen is based around seasonal products from local farms, so the menu changes often. Although "Americana" may best describe the style of our food, influences are many. Favorite techniques in the kitchen include our wood-fired pizza oven, wood-fired grill, and custom sous-vide station. The bar looks mostly to American classics and carefully homemade basics. Original cocktails vary with the market's availability and our bartender's mood. * Please note: Booth seating is limited and is reserved for parties of 3 - 6. We will do our best to accommodate your requests, but make no guarantees. For special requests, please call us at (760) 459-3451. *

Had dinner last Saturday night. Early reservation because I made it that same day.
Restaurant is housed in a cool old building once a theatre and had since had many other tenants. Stark white / cast concrete / black / exposed light bulbs / community table / outside dining -- all very hip and neuvo-cool.
It's a treat to have a new restaurant in Palm Springs that is not a chain or a steakhouse.
We shared:
CRISPY LOCAL GOAT CHEESE, brown butter + balsamic lentils, braised beet - 4 stars
LOCH ETIVE STEELHEAD, cooked sous vide to medium-rare served chilled with english pea mousse, bacon vinaigrette -- 5 stars
Market pizza - 2 stars (I didn't like the dough texture, sauce was bland, toppings were salty)
BRAISED VEAL CHEEK, white chocolate mashed potatoes, frisee - YES White Chocolate Mashed Potatoes - 5 stars - TO DIE FOR!!!
ASPARAGUS COIN CHOPPED SALAD, lobster, saffron rice, fresh green goddess, radish, green beans - it was a very large portion / enough for 4 people to share - 4 stars (fresh ingredients / needed a little sprinkle of salt)

I will definitely go back for more tastings! So excited to have a new food gem in PS!!!

Great atmosphere - a fantastic design makes this a different restaurant. Food very good but a bit expensive. The communal table is a non-starter but the booths are very good - make sure you get one of these.

As locals we had been hearing mixed reviews, not all good. I once ate at the communal table when they first opened and it was fine, but just a taste. Tonight I returned with my husband. We were seated promptly in a coveted booth. Probably because we ate at 6:30 and it was not yet crowded
Service was prompt and efficient. Husband ordered a Cuban cocktail from a special, limited drinks menu from a guest bartender. Also an Austrian beer on tap. We opted for a few small plates. Zuckerman Farms (our friends from Stockton own this farm!) asparagus with saffron vinaigrette and puff pastry. Mesquite roasted English peas, pancetta, goat feta. Crispy goat cheese, brown butter atop balsamic lentils, braised beets. Duck fat French fries with sea salt and herbs. Dessert was a Meyer lemon tart served with beet/ginger sorbet. I can honestly say that each dish was unique, interesting and flavorful. Our server Allen was helpful and attentive. A good experience!

The decor at Workshop is super cool and trendy. Not you typical Palm Springs restaurant.
Menu is adventurous and food is excellent although maybe a little overpriced as are the drinks.
I would definitely recommend the champagne cocktail.....superb!
Service was erratic and slightly slow but still a great place

The adventurous design is impressive for Palm Springs and the staff and the drinks were great but the food was just SO bad. If there's anything outstanding on this menu, the three of us failed to find it. I think maybe the positive reviews for this place come from people who were convinced by the attractive surroundings that what they were eating wasn't absolutely flavorless and pleasure-free. The sad little basket of grocery store baguette that seemed like a misstep was in fact indicative of everything that followed. None of the things we ordered should have made it out of the kitchen. Either no one is tasting what they're making or the chef believes eating out should be a chore. I'll say again, the cocktail we ordered was first rate but the menu needs an overhaul.
