Judging by the number of people waiting to be seated on a Sunday evening (albeit Labor Day weekend) I would say this new restaurant in Palm Springs is a hit. By far the better seating is outside and they take care of our hot summer weather with misters very well. The menu is fairly limited but the food is quite good althouogh the portions run from average to small.

we came to Jiao's for our first experience and we could not have been more pleasantly pleased. the fact that one dish out of 10-11 didn't make the cut (with us)is no big deal as we were in absolute awe of EVERYTHING!! the sauces were to die for and the freshness unparralled. we girls know food and this was a treat. we would have gone back nightly had we not been traveling all around southern calif - including out to santa monica and back. we talked about dinner there as the best of the many excellend restaurants we tried and the only night we were back in town it was closed. we will return!! exceptional food and that YUZU sauce/dressing was too divine! keep it up.

Yumm!!! Everything was so good! Candace was our server and help us pick out the best plates for our mood. Everything was very enjoyable. We sat outside, facing Palm Canyon. Jiao is the perfect couples spot! Try all the sauces, order several different plates, don't miss the Sake Cocktails, and definintly do not skip desert!!!!

This new restaurant owned and operated by the same folks who run Cheeky!s and Birba across the street, have done it again. Although a tiny place with only low counter seating inside, the majority of the seating takes place outside on a small patio facing Palm Canyon at the corner of The Corridor complex. Although this would not work in most places Palm Springd weather usually allow for such dining.

Taking all the different types of Asian dishes that the owners like, the food is an amalgamation of Chinese, Korean and Japanese styled dishes.

We started out with some wonderful Calamari served with a couple of sauces, along with a selection of four others that ranged from Seasame to Spicy Jalapeño. Next we tried the Spicy fried peppers. Fresh, crunchy and just the right punch.

For main courses we had the Soft-Shelled Crabs with a Saffron Rice, along with Shaking Beef. Both yummy. In fact I think we could have eaten our way through the entire menu. Everything was yummy.

The only fault was the service still getting used to timing: sometimes the bussers were too eager to remove our sharing plates or took our chopsticks. The metal soup spoons were also a bit odd, but that won't stop us from going back.

We went to Jiao's on a cool and windy Saturday night. This is important because the only indoor seating they have is at a counter.....all other seating is outdoors. The food was great, we all liked our dishes. We started out ordering "shared plates". We were told by our cute server that food comes out as prepared. We had the Salt & Pepper Squid - fantastic, crunchy pieces great for the 3 of us to share. The Pork and Shrimp Imperial Rolls were tasty glorified egg rolls. We ordered a special Duck Buns - they were like duck tacos, the duck was perfectly cooked. Our server brought to the table four sauces that complimented the food. Under the category of "main" dishes, we ordered the Lemongrass Pork Noodle Bowl - not my favorite, the noodles were served cold with a slight mint flavor but my guests liked it. The Miso Glazed Black Cod was my favorite but it was more of a shared plate than a main course. For $14.00, had I ordered only that for my dinner I would have been very disappointed at the size and still hungry. The Spicy, Spicy, Spicy Mapo Tofu Clay Pot did not life up to it's billing. It was not nearly as spicy as some of the side sauces and the tofu was the watery type, hard to pick up with chopsticks. The Forest Mushroom rice was nicely done.
They only have beer, sake and wine. The Thai Ice Tea was so-so. Overall, I would go back, the food and serve were great. Because of the night, where we sat was jammed so we were constantly being bumped by people and servers.
