“Another great stay!”
Reviewed December 23, 2012 via mobile

This is our 7th stay at Santiago and, as always, David and his team did an awesome job in making us feel right at home.
The lap pool, meticulous grounds, hammocks, good little breakfast and great staff makes this place top notch. The only turn Off: it seems management has reverted back to allowing smoking everywhere on the grounds. Heavy construction from the adjacent lot was disappointing but should be completed soon

Tips:
- request for 2nd level rooms (best are 208-210 which overlook the jacuzzi).

This was my first trip to Palm Springs, and I made a great decision to stay at Santiago. It was the absolute perfect place for a truly relaxing getaway. You cannot go wrong with Santiago!

I opted for their lowest price offering -- which was only $99/night. The room included a very comfortable king sized bed, a writing desk (with hard wired high-speed internet -- as well as wi-fi), an armoir with drawers, a safe, microwave and fridge, as well as a television/dvd/vcr combo (they offer a selection of mainstream and adult videos). There was also ample closet space, as well as an included bath robe. The bathroom was clean with a spacious shower. The room came with lovely soaps and toiletries, as well as a basket of goodies, including bottled water, snacks etc. The decor and condition of the room was much higher than one would expect for $99.

The grounds were exceptional. The landscaping is thoroughly inviting and meticulously maintained. And the view of the mountains from the property is perfect. There is one large heated pool and a jacuzzi. Both were crystal clean and clear. The cushioned seating around the pool was comfortable and there were always towels available. There are also a couple of more shaded, out of the way seating areas, as well as a courtyard where folks can eat breakfast.

Speaking of breakfast, Santiago's continental breakfast is very nice. Fresh fruit, bagels, muffins, waffles, cereals, juice, coffee, etc. All the food here is fresh and nicely laid out. I was particularly fond of the blueberry waffles -- and the coffee was very good too.

In addition to breakfast, Santiago also includes lunch for all of it's guests. I don't believe there is another resort that does this. And for me, it made a huge difference not having to leave the premises (and put on clothes) to grab lunch. The lunch was also of high quality -- a nice selection of sandwiches and salads that are provided by a local deli.

As I've said, this is a very relaxing resort. The weekend I was there, the resort was half full -- with an even mix of couples and singles. I found the guests to be friendly and cordial, but not intrusive. It's a great energy that also permeates from the staff. Ken, David, and Oscar do their jobs very well. This is a clothing optional resort, but there was no pressure either way -- some folks were clothed, some not, and nobody seemed to care or comment either way.

There is some sexual energy and cruising here -- as there would be for any gay clothing optional resort -- but like everything else here it's low key. People are primarily here to relax. But of course being on vacation, folks are also looking for some fun -- so if that's what you're after, chances are you'll find it.

The Santiago is a remarkable value -- for $99/night, I stayed in a high quality resort and was served breakfast and lunch. Knowing that my get-away wasn't costing me an arm and a leg made my trip all the more relaxing. You cannot go wrong with Santiago!

Room Tip: The second floor rooms have a better view, and rooms closer to the courtyard are perhaps a bit quiet...

I first found out about Santiago from a TripAdvisor review. Let me say, that even the positive reviews do not match the exceptional experience which I had staying at Santiago Resort.

On arrival, I noticed the attention to the plantings at the front door and the cleanliness of the landscaping, in general. That's a good sign to start. When the host opened the door and invited me in I knew right away that this was where I WANTED to stay. The private entry lobby is surrounded by glass walls which allow you to see the expanse of the property and the large pool and tropical landscaping which are meticulously maintained. Numerous palm trees add a Hawaiian mystique.
Needless to say, I felt comfortable and welcomed immediately.

If you're looking for a place where you can feel like you are isolated from the world and need some good down time in a gorgeous setting, this is the place.

Accommodations were very clean and well stocked, and I felt like I was in an exclusive private resort. The bed was amazingly comfortable and I slept very soundly.

Daytime ambiance around the pool deck allowed for complete relaxation as the background music was calm and at low levels as to contribute to the experience rather than to distract. The sampling of clientele was calm, personable, and discerning.

Breakfast choices were more than ample but the most amazing bonus was the choice of box lunch provided by Aspen Mills Bakery and which was included.

My priority while staying here was to relax, and enjoy my stay. I was not disappointed as all my needs were met, and then some.

David, Ken, and Oscar are part of the staff and they are friendly, accommodating and service oriented. Their job is to make sure that you are treated as a special guest and they do it well.

Would I recommend this place? Wow, absolutely not if I wanted to keep Santiago a secret... but most resoundingly yes and I would stay here again in less than a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floors may be warmer during to exposure to the daytime sun, but I don't think...

Huge pool and attentive staff with great personalities. Nice location and a very fun place to stay. A short distance to Warm Sands. Lots of private space and a large hot tub. Parking is free and they always seem to attract a diverse and friendly crowd.

Stayed at the Santiago Resort during Gay Pride Weekend. Despite a large crowd, the property remained clean and the staff attentive, as always. The pool and jacuzzi was sparkling clean. The catered in lunch is definitely a plus and the property remains beautiful, like always. Love you guys!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are similarly equipped; bigger rooms include a couch. The only issue for me is the...

From our early checking to our late check out, everything suited us down to the ground. The breakfasts are very simple, but that's all that we needed, especially as the included, Deli supplied lunch, is so great and filling. Ken makes every guest feel very welcome and Oscar does a great job keeping the room spotless with as little fuss as possible. The 3 o'clock poolside Popsicles arrived like clockwork and were well received by all guests.

We had Perfect weather for the whole 10 night stay and swam and relaxed by the pool every day. I prefer the upstairs rooms as they do offer a great outlook of the mountain backdrop as well as providing ceiling fans to create some airflow a night. Santiago is definitely not a sleazy resort, but does offer the chance to mingle with other guests and spend many nights chatting away in the spa. Certainly if you are after more than just a chat, there is nothing to stop that taking place as well especially in the well positioned gazebo in the back corner.

We have stayed in other Palm Springs accommodations however it will now be difficult to com back and not stay at Santiago. For value for money I don't think that it can be beaten.

Santiago brought service and value to the next level. And yes, its a clothing optional resort apart from the rest. Kevin and his team were always at your disposal, very welcoming and we always felt at home. Even our friends with discriminating tastes were pleasantly surprised. Its gonna be our new tradition when in Palm Springs. The little things they provide including the open kitchen and lunches made such a big difference!
