Stayed at the Caliente for spring break. For Palm Springs, the prices were AMAZING! Could have been closer to downtown but the staff totally made up for it. Brian, the manager acted as our concierge and made it sooo easy to enjoy Palm Springs without breaking our wallet. From the Matchbox happy hour to local hiking trails, he seamed to know everything about PS. The lobby is updated tiki theme (cool) the lounge which isn't open had table overlooking the pool for guests to use. Pool open late, hot tub was HOT. Oh and the bed!!! So comfy! And the shower big enough to have a party in ;) Loved my stay!

If you're looking for a very basic room at a motel style property, then you'll be satisfied with this location. My first reaction to our room was apprehension. This is not a fancy place. The ceiling fan/main room light did not work and there were cob webs in the corners of the ceiling. The shower and toilet are in one room while the sink and counter are in the main room. Its a weird setup but it works.

As mentioned earlier, the building are motel style with a corridor outside the front of the building with parking at grade. Because of this, there is a fair amount of noise as people walk and wheel luggage past your front door. Other than that, the property was pretty quiet and repeatable even during Spring Break.

The outdoor pool is large, clean, warm, had tons of chairs and a nice courtyard area. A definite plus. That is the end of the amenities though, no onsite restaurant or lounge. However, you're a short walk from many choices.

To sum up, I was a little concerned at first but will admit that the hotel turned out to be quite satisfactory. At nearly half the cost of other options, remind yourself that you get what you pay for and you'll be happy.

I stayed here once in the '90s once, then again two years ago, then last week. Since the '90s they've revamped the place with some fun, cheesy tiki touches, but they have also closed the bar by the pool, which is a bummer. The rooms updates I first saw a couple of years ago, and which seemed pretty fresh then, are already showing signs of wear. i.e. the blinds in out room didn't close properly because the strings were worn and breaking. The beds were ok. The pool was nice but I wish it had been warmer. I did have some peeves about the maid service: the room was not stocked with nearly enough towels for four people. And after the first night we went to Joshua Tree, came back at 4:30pm, and the room still had not been cleaned. We had to clear out for half an hour so the maid could do her thing. Overall, it was a pleasant place to stay, with touches of fun, and I'd likely stay here again.

We have stayed at Caliente Tropics multiple times and we always have a good time. The rooms are what you would expect for an older motel. They are always clean and well maintained. The pool area is always a good time and the staff seem helpful. This is by no means a luxury resort, but if you are looking for a well priced motel with a great pool area that is close to downtown, you can't go wrong.

I have stayed here before but doubt I will ever again. The check in process is arduous to say the least as their computer system seems very picky. Having to show a picture ID once is acceptable but three times over a three day stay is just plain nuts. The real clunker is getting charged for a resort fee when checking out even though their web site has NO mention whatsoever of any such fee. Believe me this is not a resort by any stretch of the imagination and to charge an additional fee is just plain gouging. There are so many nicer places to stay where a resort fee is not out of place that getting charged for this here just set my teeth on edge. The rooms are adequate although the flooring on the second floor squeaks even if you tread very softly. The inroom refrigerator did not work well in either of the two rooms I stayed in over my three days here. Never again for me!

We had a lovely time here! We went away for the weekend on a whim and were very happy here. The hotel rooms are basic but clean. The bed linens were soft, excellent pillows; but the mattress was not that great... We were slightly apprehensive about the hotel being dog friendly but we were foolish to be! There was no early morning barking or poop in the grassy play area by the pool. The pool and hot tub were super clean and the water temp was perfect! I found myself wishing they played music by the pool though. This hotel is a $8.00 cab ride from down town which was super! A great little hotel with a lot of personality for a very small price!
