“HIKING AT TOP OF TRAM”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2012

You can take the tram from the Palm Springs side and go from desert floor to a pine forest in about 15 or 20 minutes. Extensive trail system once you are on top. We went at beginning of November and weather was nice and not too hot.

“Great ride and terrific views”

Don't miss the ride on the tram to the top of a mountain with great views. Well worth it but be prepared for a lot of walking.

“Awesome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2012 via mobile

Although it was a chilly day (22deg with a wind chill of 10deg, and I talking Fahreheit) we went up, climbed to Grubbs Viewpoint (don't dare missing it), and took the 1.5 miles Valley View trail with all 5 notches. And although it took us almost an hour to warm back to be able to use our hands, it was absolutely worth it. My advice:
1. Find out ahead of time what the temp is at the top (it was a comfortable 68 at the valley) and dress properly (we wish we had gloves and warmer hats).
2. Remember it is over 7000 feet altitude and take it easy.
We are coming back here (this time on a warmer summer day).

“A hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012

SJ mountain is a great spot. If you have never been and you live in the area, it is a must see. If you take the tram, be very careful not to wander off too far and get lost. The SJ mountain is very big and can be a very unforgiving climate. The weather can change quickly, so always be prepared.

“Great fun on the mountain!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012

Goodness, its HOT, brown and dry in the valley...so take the tram up to the mountain! Its cooler, greener, educational and fun. While the trails are not too hard, the parking lot is steep. The sidewalk down the side of the mountain is steep and has a lot of twists and turns. So take sunscreen and wear good walking shoes! The gondola turn 360 degrees so everyone gets to view the mountain and the valley. This was a good afternoon adventure.
