We saw this show in the old Palm Springs Theatre on short notice! We walked by and asked for discounted tickets, which worked out to our satisfaction.
The show is drawing on tunes from the 50's,60's and 70's, so some of it is somewhat dated, and only a senior audience would be able to relate to everything. The dancers offer a spunky, fun presentation. The costumes are beautiful! Yes, here are seniors, some in their seventies and eighties, and they obviously have fun with this show themselves! We hope to dance up a storm when we are their age!
The MC is funny, but some of his talk could use some serious overhaul: it simply gets way too lengthy which explains the fact, that this show lasts for 2 1/2 hours with an intermission of 15 minutes. Some of the humour is very close to being insulting, and we hope that the subjects that were picked on relentlessly got a discounted ticket! The last act is a somewhat bombastic tribute to patriotism with waving flags, drumroll, march tunes and the national anthem. The show could have done without that, but it's what the arranger likes....take it or leave it! We stayed, as we wanted to be polite, but it was noticeable that a few seats had cleared before the show was over.
You may want to see this show once.It is very much a Palm Springs traditional. But it is beyond me, why some of the audience come back time and again.
