“Great place for a quiet, relaxing stay in Palms Springs!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2012

The hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating. We arrived in the area two hours early, so we called ahead to see if we could check in early. Jim (the manager) made sure our room was ready when we arrived. Overall, the room was clean with a full kitchen. The pool was steps from the room, and the sliding door made it easy to get in and out. Just a couple blocks from the shops and restaurants made the location convenient. The place caters to a more mature crowd, so we didn't worry about people being loud or obnoxious at the pool or at odd hours at night. It was so relaxing, we can't wait to got back!!

Recently spent three nights at the Desert Hills Hotel and found that its very positive TripAdvisor reviews are accurate. Clean, comfortable and quiet room with immediate access to pool and patio area. Short (3-4 block) walk to the Thursday night Village Fest and the many restaurants in the downtown area. The kitchenette was well equipped with fridge, stove, and microwave.

Every time we've stayed here it's been so nice. Lot's of lounge chairs by the pool, nice people, calm setting close to town. The rooms have full kitchens and nice bedding, very large. Two small beefs- not really any sort of breakfast, just coffee, juice, Costco yogurts and packaged pastries . Also be forewarned the gardeners arrive at 7 on Monday mornings and don't finish til almost noon and the trash trucks arrive at the same time- plan accordingly

I've stayed at the Desert Hills many times and I've always been pleased. You should know that it's not really a family hotel - I'm not sure they allow kids - and most of the guests are couples or singles in their 40's through 60's. This is the kind of place people return to year after year - because of the peaceful setting. You're only 4 blocks from the action on Palm Canyon - so the restaurants and shops are a short walk away. There is always room by the pool, because there aren't a lot of rooms at the hotel. Jim and Barbara - the two hosts who alternate coverage at the hotel are gracious and helpful. The only "downside" is the rather simple continental breakfast. I generally walk about two blocks and have breakfast at Spencer's. This is a restaurant very close by with with fantastic food and service. During the "high season" they now open for breakfast at 8 AM.

Room Tip: Most all of the rooms have a king bed and include a kitchen. There is also a one bedroom suite and...

This little hotel is just lovely for a restful but fun holiday! Each room faces onto the pool but has a perfect little kitchen at the back of the unit. There is music from the 50s being played during the day, around the pool and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Even though this place is peaceful and set in the old, historic section of the city of Palm Springs itself, it is just 5 short blocks from the center of the town where one can access shopping, restaurants, the lovely and historic Pioneer Plaza and, every Thursday evening, the Palm Springs "Village Fest" street fair. Very easy to find from the airport, this little hotel is perfect for a quick get-away!

Of the dozens of places you could stay, all with great reviews, we chose Desert Hills. Very pleasant, comfy room, great courtyard and pool. A quiet location near the main downtown area. Our only complaint would be the poor breakfast- little choice and no fresh fruit was put out the 4 days we stayed (packaged danish and one sad, shrivelled clementine). Good thing it was an easy walk to nearby options, be it a coffee shop or something more substantial.

Room Tip: we preferred the smaller room (with refrig), but you can also get a larger room with a kitchen

This place is delight. We stayed in a king studio suite, which is tastefully decorated and has everything you need. The pool area is lovely and a great hot tub. Walking distance to Palm Canyon and nice restaurants. Will definitely stay here again if we visit Palm Springs again.
