“GREAT place for a getaway in the sun!”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

Someone just asked me for a recommendation of a hotel in Palm Springs and this hotel came to mind immediately. We have been to Palm Springs many times and have stayed at a variety of hotels, but this one was my favorite. We were here last summer, 4th of July week, and had a great stay.Traveled with my husband and two teenage boys. GREAT value and price. Very clean, large spacious room with a pool view. The lobby and pool area are so nice...comfy chairs all around and very very clean and well maintained. Great pool with music poolside which was excellent. Wonderful location, close to town and in walking distance to off property restaurants with beautiful mountain scenery all around. Take the Palm Springs tram up the mountain if you are not afraid of heights for a fun and different day....but make sure you bring a sweatshirt..it is COLD in the mountains even when it is 100 degrees below! If you are traveling with kids, there is a go cart/arcade type place nearby which was fun. I prefer Westin heavenly beds to Marriott..that would be my only "very good instead of excellent" mark. Highly recommend and will definitely stay here again!

We came for a conference and had a mini vacation. Attached to the conference, it was really convenient. It was clean and the staff was terrific. My room was huge as it was a jr. suite. Two small complaints, there should have been a small microwave in the room as it had a bar type area and there should have been a garbage can in the bathroom. Other than that, my room was refreshed daily as if it were the first day. Close to everything and within walking distance of downtown. Do NOT miss the downtown market on Thursday night. It is a must do. It was a bit loud about 11 on Friday night as I had a pool view room. One really personal note, when walking back from downtown after dark, the sidewalk is very dark. Always aware of personal safety, this has nothing to do with the hotel, but just wanted people to be aware. I would absolutely stay here next year. By the way, I had a fresh squeezed lemon drop at the hotel bar, well, three of them...Delicious.

Room Tip: The Jr. Suites are roomy.

I stayed here for a convention and the service was fantastic. The staff is very friendly and eager to help. They have area experts available to help you decide where to have dinner. Just tell him what you are looking for (a good steak, Italian or Mexican food) and he will make a suggestion. He pulled out his phone and made resevations for us and the place was fantastic. There is a free shuttle that will take you to the nearby downtown district to eat and drink and they will pick you up for free.

The only drawback to the place was the spa. They have a stict cancellation policy and you have to cancel by a certain time or they will charge you the fee. I have no problem with being charged if we dont show up but when the place is closed throughout the day, it was hard to cancel when no one is there.

Overall, it was centrally located, right next to the convetion center, and a great place to stay.

My husband had a convention at the Westin Mission Hills, and due to our late booking, were unable to stay at the conference, and booked the Renaissance Palm Springs. We were delighted that we ended up there instead. Although my sneak peak at the Westin property was lovely, the convenience the Renaissance offers to downtown Palm Springs far outweighs the beauty of the Westin, and the consistency in quality accommodations under Marriott delivered again.
Not only is the Renaissance in close proximity to everything, but they run a shuttle for hotel guests by request to anywhere downtown until almost midnight. Just ask for Kirk, and you'll get suggestions, a smile, and a safe ride.
The Rocks bar service inside was great, and personable. I thought the patio service and poolside service was a little lacking. All I wanted to do all day Monday was to sit by the pool and order lunch, but I couldn't get anyone's attention for a server to come and take an order, so I got up and covered up and went to the patio. I took a seat and waited for about 5min before anyone figured out I hadn't been helped to take an order or bring a water. I was disappointed with that particular interaction, and I thought the salad I ordered was a little lacking.
Overall, I thought the food prices were a little on the ridiculous side for Rocks meals. We spent $70 on room service for breakfast, and I think the prices in general for some appetizers and such were just plain high. It's worth the walk across the street to Sherman's!
I would definitely stay here again with all things considered, and I still would pick it over the Westin for convenience.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view. We didn't and wish we would have. Had a view of the parking lot next door...

For the $$$ and being a resort hotel, one would expect a little more, especially in terms of service. A late check-in for a Thursday night, a day before a huge conference, I excepted it to be busy; however, all I seemed to do since the minute I drove onto the grounds is wait. If you have no patience, this is no place for you. The room was average for the price point. Nothing too special, but for the amount you pay a night, plus resort fees and parking, I would except a little more from its staff. Had room service, which took forever. Ate breakfast at the on-site restaurant, $11 stale pancakes and an hour to get them did not start my stay off well. Everything here is expensive, so expect to pay a lot. If it wasn't for the conference, I would stay elsewhere for the money.

Ok here goes - important to some, water pressure was okay, linens were soft, and Aveda products in the bath, room next to emergency exit/stairwell, but still heard someone's tv. Haven't checked out the gym or pool yet, but planning to later. Perhaps a stay not during a conference would make this place seem better, but since it is attached to the convention center, when would that be?

Room Tip: If you want piece and quiet, don't choose a ground or near ground level room poolside.

Our experience was basically positive, except for the noise outside our room and what sounded like a waterfall in the ceiling of our bathroom every time the upstairs guest flushed their toilet. Because we had a pet, we were consigned to a first floor room, where loud guests passing outside interrupted our sleep. Otherwise, the hotel was a pleasure. A nice restaurant that did not gouge its customers and had tasty food, a large lovely pool area and room to walk our dog just outside. The hotel abuts the convention center and is close to downtown and the casino. Parking is $10 per day for self-park, valet is $20 per day. Pet fee is $50 for the entire stay. One small nitpick: one area near the pool is set aside for guests who rent cabanas. Although the cabanas are roped off, the reserved chaise lounge chairs in front of them are not, forcing unwitting "unreserved" guests to have to move when asked by staff. Why not just rope off the whole section and save some hassles? Front desk staff was very polite and cheerfully accommodated our request to stay a couple of hours past the noon check-out time.

Room Tip: If you don't have a pet, ask for a pool view room

Even though this was a business trip, it was very relaxing, thanks to the wonderful accommodations at the Renaissance. The hotel is in a great location, close to lots of restaurants and the casino. The staff was extremely courteous and professional. Will definitely stay here again.
