Renaissance Palm Springs Hotel
Ranked #26 of 74 Hotels in Palm Springs
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed September 30, 2011

This hotel became and Renaissance two years ago and underwent a beautiful remodel leaving a gorgeous sleek lobby, updated rooms and a vibrant pool area. We had no complaints. Pool chaises are done in a very hip shade of green with blue pool towels. My only critique is that the towels are ready to be replaced and that's all I can say that would be considered a negative.
Arriving early, 11:30 am, the agent promptly secured a room and then let me know he had upgraded us without my even asking. And no, I am not a Marriott member with premium status. We were given a junior suite with pool view.
The hotel is running a special, which I find hard to believe. $149 and you receive $100 to spend any way you choose on the property each day of your stay, so the room is basically $49. LOVE that.
Hallways have been done in a bright orange and yellow motif that is fun and very typical of what you might expect in Palm Springs. The rooms are more than comfortable with 42" LG flat screens and Aveda toiletries. Beds are perfect with 6 down pillows!
Valet parking is available. Self parking is $10, but you can easily park on a side street for free. There is plenty of parking, free or paid. Internet is free in the lobby (wi-fi) and $12.95 in the rooms, waived for Marriott Rewards premium members. I'm using the lobby to work rather than spend on internet and it makes for excellent people watching. There's even an internet work area with plug ins. The lobby bar has two screens above the bartenders and four screens at the other end. Perfect when sports are on. From 5 pm - 7 pm they have Happy Hour with 1/2 price app's and $5 well drinks. The lunch/dinner menu is very reasonable and I'm assuming the b'fast menu will be just as reasonably priced.
We will have no problem and will look forward to staying here again. The location if you want to be in downtown Palm Springs is second to none. The Hyatt and the Hilton are the only close by competition the Hilton is really dowdy and in need of a major refurb by comparison. The Hyatt has recently been upgraded but it's on Palm Canyon, which is a very busy street and we've never even looked at it.
If you want a very friendly staff, quick to help you, a great location and hip atmosphere, you can't beat the price point of this property.

Thank you for your very comprehensive review of our hotel; we do like to run specials like the one you booked under to attract new guests to our hotel and earn their future business. From your review, we see that our Reception Ambassador went one step further and upgraded you; those little touches are part of what seperates the services at our hotel from our competition.

Thank you for choosing our hotel and we look forward to being of service again should your travels bring you back to Palm Springs.

Our stay was nice. We reservered a room with pool view we didn't get it the first night. The hallways are so long to get to the rooms that by the time we got to the rooms I was too tired to go back and tell them. One of tge first things we noticed going in was a big dead bug on tge floor, another by the window and another in tge bathroom. The next morning my 3 year old son wouldn't go in the bathroom because there was another giant bug on the wall alive! I took pictures and sent them to my husband since he was down in the lobby. They moved us to a pool side view room and gave us a free night since the first night we didn't sleep in what we paid for. We had a sofa bed for the kids they loved it they are pretty comfortable.

The lobby was huge lots of sitting area. Tge pool was big but a little too warm or 115 degree weather. The have a kiddie pool about two feet deep kids enjoyed tgat. Allot of seating area if you get there early enough.

Hot tube us huge !!!

There's a restaurant down the block called margaritas it was yummy !
one night we walked downtown and it was a nice little walk maybe about 15/20 min walk.

The food at the hotel was good.

Theres a movie theater across the street from the hotel. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would go back!

I love staying at this hotel. The staff goes above and beyond to make you happy. Everyone says hi even the maids. The food at my conference was great. The subtlety of the decor in the lobby with the lighting is nice too. Soothing. The bar has an intimate feel. The beds are comfortable, down pillows and comforter.

It wasn't my birthday, it wasn't our anniversary and none of us was getting married. It was just a weekend getaway, booked at the last minute.

But the front desk staff was amazingly friendly and accommodating, and made us feel like we were there for something special. Marcy recommended great places to eat (a good deli that was open during Palm Springs’ off season, somewhere that had good French toast). By the time we left, we had a hug-level relationship level with Tiffany.

The pool is beautiful (our towels were a bit raggedy but worked just fine); the location means we could walk anywhere downtown; the rooms were clean (and stocked with Aveda products!) and there were a half-dozen pillows to choose from.

The only thing I chafed at were the add-on fees: $12.95 a day for Internet access, and $10 a day to self-park. The property isn't in New York or San Francisco, where space is at a premium, so raise a stink and see if they'll waive at least the parking charge.

We do love to treat our guests like every day is a special event for them! Thank you for sharing your experience and we will definately celebrate with Marcy and Tiffany as they delivered the experience we strive to with every guest.

You did note our parking and internet charges; we chose to not charge a resort fee as many of the hotels in our area do (some as much as $25 per night) and only charge guests for services they select.

Thank you for posting and we look forward to delivering another memorable experience in the very near future.

We first stayed here in 2009 when it was a Wyndham and enjoyed it so much we returned this month for another 2-night stay. Check-in was efficient and our room was great - on the 3rd floor with a balcony overlooking the pool area.
The reception/ bar area is a huge wide open space that is very modern and has patio/pool views.
There must have been some sort of function/convention on our first day as there were lots of children in and around the pool area who were gone the following day - they didn't create any problems, just enjoyed themselves in the pool. The pool area was great - plenty of sunbeds and shades and nice sized pool.
When we asked at reception for a taxi to a nearby restaurant, one of the employee's offered to take us there to save us a cab fare - brilliant service. He even came to collect us after our meal too.
I don't know the rates for any other hotels in the area but this was one of the cheapest of our holiday, and one of the nicest we stayed in. There were a few restaurants in walking distance that we noticed although we didn't use them (we went to El Mirasol Mexican restaurant about 1.5 miles away instead - see my review!)
We had a bar snack one night (chips & dip - chips were lovely but I'd have preferred salsa!) and my partner had wings which he said were lovely which we ate outside on the patio area.
We were billed for a bottle of water which we didn't drink but it was removed without any questions.
I don't know if the walls are thin but we could hear our neighbours one night (maybe they'd had a few drinks!) ir it could be that we were in an adjoining room and the noise was coming through the door.
If we ever come back to Palm Springs, we'll be staying here again.

Loved this hotel very plush. Would recommend anyone staying here. The only problem we had while staying here was there was an Amway convention held in the hotel, unfortunately all the attendees of the convention left their children in the pool, although no children under 14 without a parent where supposed to be in there. They had the life rings off of the trees and we felt we were in a public pool instead of a five star resort. Worth checking if there will be a convention on when booking!!
