“A fun evening activity”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2012

VillageFest is a hugely popular event that takes place every Thursday from 6pm-10pm during high season and 7pm-10pm during the hot months. Since it's so popular, expect crowds! It is busiest during March, when it is so crowded that walking a block can take forever. Other times of the year, it's usually busy, but not overwhelmingly so.
The restaurants tend to be very, very busy this night - so don't expect to get a table right away. But, it's a great time to scope out the restaurants and decide which one to try another night. There are many food choices on the street anyway: from corn-on-the-cob, hotdogs, kettle corn to falafels, Greek pastry, tamales and crepes. At the north end of Villagefest, the organizers have set up tables and chairs to make it easier to eat. Otherwise, grab a piece of curb and people watch while you eat!
As far as the merchandise goes, you can find a wide range of things: jewelry (including vintage), photography, dog clothes, pottery, paintings, coffee, raw honey, fresh and dried fruit, handmade soaps, etc. I have bought many, many gifts here over the years. It is mostly unique, handmade stuff. There is always live music too.
Definitely worth a visit when you're in the Palm Springs area!

“A great night out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

The Thursday night Village Fest is a great opportunity for a night out. Wander the street fair, check out the crafts, listen to the music, pet the horses, people watch, and have a nice dinner.

It's basically free except for possible shopping (most businesses stay open late) and dining, and it is one of the few activities that runs all year long.

“Watch your step”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

An institution in Palm Springs has become a somewhat tired display of the same old merchandise. What was once amusing has become hum drum. It may excite the senses the first time that it is viewed, but times change and so must this tired institution of Palm Springs. Added to this is the numerous wires, electrical cords, and other hazards makes watching one's step imperative, be forewarned. Parking in the area is very scarce unless one wishes to walk blocks in utter darkness in the hope of finding one's vehicle...my car was lost for 30 minutes while I attempted to remember which "blackened" street on which I had parked.

“A must for all visitors”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

The market is a fun way to spend a Thursday evening. Lots to see and do. Great selection of vendors. Just fun to people watch. If you have a dog wouldn't recommend taking it along as there are just too many people walking around.
