Was neat to see all the different movie stars names imbedded in side walks as we walked through downtown area.

Never realized that so many stars from the past walked, worked and lived in Palm Springs. When you learn that PS was the pre- Hollywood than you understand.

Viewing the stars serves as a distraction to a downtown in Palm Springs that is clearly on the decline. City Council in Palm Springs appears to be frantically searching for activities to reinvigorate this desert city, but having a "Biker" weekend where 5,000 bikers descend into Palm Springs does little to match the former upscale desert community. Stars on a sidewalk cannot disguise poor civic leadership. To watch men and women sporting WWII German helmets and tatoos does not generate confidence nor the feeling of security. Watching police arresting bikers does not say "high class" entertainment. The term "American Heat" to avoid saying "Biker Weekend" is simply unacceptable! I moved quickly to the more gracious environments of Rancho Mirage and Palm Desert.

So this is very spread out along Palm Canyon. It's very nice but not what I would call a destination. Look at the stars as you're walking along. There's also a very nice sculpture of Sonny Bono, the former mayor along with a temporary exhibit if the 20 foot tall Marilyn Monroe sculpture (in town through June 2013) that is hard to miss and really should be seen. The stars that line this walk for the most part are either local celebs or real oldies whom if you were born before 1960 you'd most likely be familiar with. A nice little addition to Palm Canyon.

What a wonderful way to spend the day! The friendy shop keepers with such a wide variety of goods. All that glitters is probably gold. Excellent places to eat and drink really somthing for everybody. Sit on a bench with Lucille Ball and watch the world go by. Easy to imagine the early days of hollywood stars escaping to their desert get away. A little sad to see so many empty stores forced out by high rents I heard. The big outlet malls don't help. I hope that Palm Canyon Drive survives and old hollywood is not lost. Don't miss the night market! Loved the Walk of Stars. Loved the open friendly people.
