Incredible to see a palm tree oasis in the middle of a desert and that there is so much water! Nice gentle hike/walk that is well marked. Also can see where the San Andreas fault is!

A true oasis in the middle of the desert on top of the San Andreas fault. Coachella appears from the middle of nowhere like a proper mirage. Take the opportunity to walk round a couple of the loops and enjoy the serenity of the palms and the clarity of the water. Very few things this good are free....but this is gratis and relies on volunteers to staff it. One place I was only too happy to make a donation to experience such beauty, tranquillity and wonder. Make a visit - take lunch and chill in the sunshine.

You must make the short trip to this gem in the desert. It was simply amazing to see this oasis of palms. Lots of nice hiking trails and friendly host as well. Do not miss this great spot.

We have heard of them in movies and lore, and now I have finally seen one in real life. The Coachella Valley Preserve is a genuine natural desert oasis with a natural grove of palm trees in a natural spring with salt grass, ash bushes and dye plants. Free admission and free parking.

Wonderful, free, volunteer based natural preserve. Hiking for all levels of experience, including the beginner, level 1, McCallum Trail. Much to see and learn on the self guided tour. Be sure to stop in the Visitor Centre to check out the many artifacts and specimens and pick up your free trail map. This is one place you will want to leave a donation.
