“What's not to like”

I admit - I am a sucker for anything Mid-Century - architecture, cocktails, music - well maybe not all music. . .. but the Del Marcos hits it out of the park in everyway. It's a small joint but with loads of personality and style. From the moment you walk through the sliding glass door to the small welcoming reservation desk with friendly Diana at the helm you know this is going to be a good place. It's clean, inviting, hip but not so much that it hurts and best of all - true to its claim - it is mid century architecure at its best. Not overdone, just waaaaaaaaaaaaaay cool in a 1950s Mad Men kind of way. I was in the Tony Merchell room - very comfortable with a queen bed, small sitting area and even a private patio with my own lounge chairs.

When I read about the salt water pool - I was a little worried but don't be - it's very mild, nothing like the salty ocean - just nice and comforting without the stink of chlorine. When I first got there the water temp was almost hot - much too warm for the outside tempurature of the day - I just off-handedly mentioned it to Diana and bang! they were on it - adding cool water to it and even offered to add ice to bring down the temp. WIthin an hour I was lovin' it.

And the location - Excellent - not on the main drag but only one block from all the shopping, eating, and people watching of downtown Palm Springs - quiet when you want it - and activity just a minute or two away. Once I parked the car - it didn't go anywhere for two days.

All that charm and comfort plus a decent little breakfast of muffins, bagels, fresh fruit and REALLY good coffee made for a perfect three days in the sun.

Was disappointed with the interior finish and look of the hotel and felt the owners were riding on the amazing architecture (by Cody) and not putting in much effort themselves to make the inside match the outside - there was a general lack of care and thought. For example: the floor length windows opened directly on to a walkway used by other guests but the curtains didn't close as there was a TV between them so people could see straight in to our room! The room smelt very strongly of bleach - worse than a public restroom - so unpleasant and unatmospheric to say the least;
there were chipped and missing tiles in the bathroom; the shampoo & shower gel etc supplied were in low-key dispensers on the wall and must have been the absolute cheapest they could find - horribly smell and low quality; the breakfast was very minimal - a few pastries and some sad looking fruit and no milk (some of us like it in our tea and coffee!); the water beds on the pool were tatty with the stuffing coming out. The decoration seemed to have been done on a shoe-string and not well maintained - plastic fake-wood floors, tatty accessories etc.
Generally an air of neglect and make-do - which is not what I look for when I pay a high price for a hotel on my holiday. There are certainly lots of better hotels in Palm Springs. At this one you feel they count the cash and aren't really bothered about the client experience - or what they are doing with this wonderful architectural legacy.

Great place to hang out. I love the look and style of the place. Beautiful. It's like being back in the 60s. Hanging out in the pool reminded me of "The Graduate" where Dustin Hoffman just hung out in the pool all day and the pool party that they had during that movie. It was really cool.

Super sweet, cozy, and welcoming. The staff is warm and helpful, always making sure we had what we needed. My best friend and I needed a mini get away and this was the place to be. The calming music played by the pool helped me rest and feel at ease. Definitely the place to be if you are in need of rest. Walked right down the street to Palm Canyon Drive and shopped around. Pretty much the heart of Palm Springs. Do not come if you are not an animal lover. The puppy that played with me by the pool was adorable and so much fun to have around! Switching rooms was easy because the front desk held our luggage while we walked around the town. The service was just great and very affordable. Will definitely come back for another round.

Amazing customer service right from the start. Booked a pool-side suite over the phone after much waffeling back and forth between which room to choose.
Easy and fast check in with a warm welcome, frosty drinks right as we steped thru the door. Helpfull staff, BEAUTIFUL setting at the base of sun-drenched mountains, and a quick walk to many fun and busy restaurants and bars.
The pool is a major plus, lit beautifully at night with chillaxing music playing overhead and two beautiful pool-side cabannas.
We will be back ASAP!

Diana is awesome, the rooms are great and funky, no two the same! The beds and pillows are as good as at home! It is a block off the main strip of downtown (Indian Canyon) but you can't hear anything. Easy walking to food, the museum, other parts of Palm Springs and even the convention center. Convenient cab ride to the airport. Hands down the best value in Palm Springs.

My sister and I stayed here in the Ocean's 11 Suite. This is the only one with (2) rooms. I enjoyed the privacy of my own room and my own TV. It was on the street side so it was a bit noisy in the early AM but ear-plugs fixed that. But not so bothersome for someone who isn't easily awakened.
There is a nice kitchen (minus oven) that has a big fridge, microwave, coffeemaker and utensils. Bathroom is decent sized with a nice shower.
The pool is warm and very clean and there are lots of loungers around the pool to use and towels provided. There is a nice little area where there is a fire place and a big screen TV under a nice cover to block from sun. Chairs and tables are there so you can have a meal or relax and watch a show.
There are (4) Cruiser Bicycles that guests can use and my sister and I used them everyday to ride around town or to dinner. It was really nice to have these. All of the staff are super nice and go out of their way to help. The housekeepers are so nice and do a great job. It was fun to come in and see a clean room and cookies on the bed! YUM
I don't recommend this place for kids at all. It is a nice adult setting, nice and quiet and not really a place or room for kids to runaround and play.
I love how close to everything this place is. We walked to the Art Museum, to the Casino and the main street is just a couple blocks up the road. The Thursday night street Fair was a lot of fun.
So there was no need to rent a car which was great for the pocketbook!!
Diana.... thank you so much for all you did to get this stay arranged!
