“Finding An Oasis in the Desert”

Stay no where else other than here! The hotel is as wonderful as it's outstanding and hospitable staff. Have travelled the world and have never stayed anywhere as welcoming, comfortable or as relaxing as The Hotel California.....which does not feel like a hotel at all. Feels like a hacienda with a common room, communal kitchen, deluxe pool, hot tub, courtyard, fire pit, fresh fruit and the best coffee each morning. You can explore Palm Springs on one of the hotel bikes or be delivered to your location via the hotel's limousine. I will be back as soon as possible!

Room Tip: Ask for room 2....ideal location

My wife and I were lucky enough to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary at the Hotel California in Palm Springs.

From the first introduction by KC, the welcome drink and the walk around the property we were hooked. The content and quality of our introduction answered every question we could possibly have asked, and plenty that we didn't.

It was clear from the attitude of the other guests around the pool, that this was a place where you could chill out and relax and let the Hotel California team and the hotel ambiance smooth away the stresses of the road!

We stayed in the "Town House" a lovely clean compact two level room, with all mod cons, a private terrace, shared balcony terrace and two flat screen tv's, convenient parking and steps away from the very quiet spa pool.

We appreciated the "bottomless coffee" that was always ready to go, the fruit in the communal kitchen for a light bite, and the variety of interesting nibbles in the room.

The pool was clean, warm and quiet. The shared guest areas were all clean and relaxing. It was a joy to sit in the spa or shaded communal areas and watch the humming birds drink nectar.

Throughout our stay the staff were really helpful and friendly, but never invasive - or too much. Judged perfectly.

We had a chat with the owner - who seems like a great chap - feet firmly grounded in the real world! While chatting, I thought of saying "if you could bottle the Hotel California" formula and sell it to one of the big hotel chains, he would probably make a fortune - and then it hit me - a hotel chain simply couldn't replicate it - they couldn't reproduce the attention to detail for genuine reasons, they'd have to get their percentage profit from every little thing. At the Hotel California its the cumulative effect of the small details that create a big overall impression!

As we checked out, we explained to the owner about our drive to the LAX airport, so he gave us to frozen bottles of water - just in case we got stuck in an LA traffic jam. The owner figured we might need a cool drink if we got stuck for hours! That's the kind of thoughtful detail that you get at the Hotel California - a lovely gesture for the right reasons, with no thought of exploiting a potential profit making opportunity. How refreshing.

Palm Springs is lovely, and sets the bar high. Hotel California pushes the standards even higher!

It was a joy to stay here, we'll certainly be back - and for longer next time too. We'll recommend this hotel to our friends.

Room Tip: Any room will be great!!!

This is a wonderful place to stay when you want a chance to recharge yourself, or your relationship. There is a peaceful vibe and tranquility to this place that allows you to
peel back the facade and get in tune with your inner self. The landscaping of the outdoor
area is ideal to promote serenity and allow you to relax. I believe they have a "no children"
policy that makes sense for this place. You can swim, you can use the spa, or you can take
a bike ride. Everything is available to you to help you unwind and enjoy your time there.
The kitchen and it's implements are at your disposal. The room we stayed in which was
directly opposite the entry to the pool had a kitchenette though we didn't cook anything.
The staff does a wonderful job of setting just the right mood by offering you a glass of wine
or a cold water upon arrival at check-in. Unfortunately, we did not meet the owners, they were
taking a little time off, but we were well taken care of by Lucy and her staff.

Eight days in paradise for out 30th anniversary. Wonderful small hotel and perhaps the best place we've ever stayed over the years. Larry, Patty, and especially Lucy, go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable, as do Kirby, Kelly and Mike and all the rest of the staff; by the time we left we felt like family. The hotel website fairly describes all the amenities available, which basically consist of everything you might need from pots and pans in the communal kitchen to cruiser bicycles. We are looking forward to a return visit.

Room Tip: Room 12 overlooking the pool. Total privacy and quiet, even on Palm Springs motorcycle weekend.

We were greeted and treated like royalty at Hotel California!!! We spent our 34th Anniversary at this awesome Hotel and we will be back many more times. Everything was so clean and accessible. The Jacuzzi and pool were amazing!. The people who worked there went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and fun. (Thanks Lucy).

Room Tip: King Romatica room has Jacuzzi just outside.

What a great little place!! All the previous reviews speak the truth. The pool is just beautiful and so tropical. Stayed here for a night this weekend and decided to come back for another couple of nights this week....just didn't get enough. I'll never stay anywhere else when I go to the desert.

WE weren't originally staying here. I booked via email at the Desert Riviera hotel, the "sister" hotel run by members of the same family, just down the road.
Unfortunately, when we arrived, the super-helpful and friendly owners of the Riviera told us they were out of action because they were having plumbing problems. Tradies had been working around the clock to fix it, but so far no luck.
What happened was that they arranged for us to stay with the sister Hotel California, where we were treated so well.
Everyone went out of their way to be helpful. They ordered the pizzas in we were after, gave us helpful information and especially told us about the date shakes at the Windmill Market on the way out of town. Excellent tip, guys - they're brilliant!
The people here obviously take great care of their guests, and take pride in their establishment. It has that personal touch you don't get in chain hotels or big resorts.
Thanks all, for workign together and overcoming a potentially distressing situation.
I would stay at either of these hotels without any hesitation (though I liked the pool area at the Riviera better - just the openness and grass surrounds!
