“A Jungle Setting In The Desert”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

This was our first time @ Hotel California. We have also stayed @ the sister Hotel (same owners) "Desert Oasis." Both are a Wonderful experience. The "Hotel California" is crowded with jungle-like plants and an abundance of Humming Birds flying all around. It is so peaceful and beautiful, you will feel like you went to an amazing place like no other you have ever been before! We have tried other Hotels in the area and were looking for a place that was small and not so commercial. Both of these Hotels are small and far from ordinary. The Owners/Staff are unlike anywhere we have ever stayed. The friendliness and service goes way above and beyond what is expected. The Hotel California has become our 1st Choice Palm Springs Hotel and if that is booked; we will stay @ the Desert Oasis. We have been spoiled by our stays @ both of these Hotels and staying anywhere else would not be acceptable to us. See for yourself!

We'd done some research on Tripadvisor and Hotel California had great reviews. But we couldn't have been prepared for how delighted the whole experience staying there could be. We will definitely come back and to stay for longer than the couple of days we did on this trip. Thank you so much for making our stay so memorable.

Room Tip: The King Romantica suite was beautiful. So nice to slip into the spa or dive in the pool. Very priva...

We stayed at this hotel for the first time last weekend, but we will make this our home-away-from-home. Previously, I had stayed at another hotel down the street and it was ok. Now that we have stayed here, we know what excellence is.

The hosts, the ambiance, the room......everything was fantastic. Friendly, small, cozy, are words that I would use. We were treated to every amenity possible.

There is a journal in each room to read about others who have stayed there. What a fantastic idea.

Room Tip: All rooms are perfectly placed.

We stayed for six nights at Hotel California, while checking in we were offered a lovely cool beer or wine, then we were shown around the property from the communal kitchen which has everything you need to prepare a meal in, to the pool and spa which are available 24 hrs. We stayed in room 11 which has a separate sitting room and his and her bathrooms, we loved this room as it had a lovely balcony area where you can sit and watch the sun set behind the mountains. The pool area is lovely with lots of shady spots and never any problems getting a sun bed. At night there are candles, tiki torches and a fire pit which gives the hotel a magical feel. Lucy is a little treasure giving advice if needed on places to dine or tips on where to go for drinks etc. The icing on the cake has to be the limo which will drop you off and pick you up downtown, Jay was a great driver and his choice of music in the limo was fab, We will definitely be returning to Hotel California!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel California. A lovely young lady (Lucy) came out to greet us and checked us in. We were also welcomed with a nice cold beer which hit the spot as it was 102 degrees F that day. She took us around the property to give us the orientation tour - we really liked the quaint nature of the hotel and all the well placed seating areas. This place is beautifully landscaped with a nice sized pool and hot tub. We stayed in room #3 which has a small but abundantly private patio just outside the door and a very comfortable king size bed in a studio layout. The room was clean, plenty of complimentary snacks and drinks and an air conditioner that worked well. Great linens, fantastic towels and a shower with excellent water pressure. Overall the room was nice and clean with a great boutique feel to it. We also met Larry (the owner and Lucy's Dad) - what a great gentlemen. He saw in the courtyard and came over to introduce himself without being intrusive (very considerate). We saw him around the property the next day and he remembered our names (as did Lucy). They certainly made us feel at home and we truly appreciated the attention to detail and customer orientation. The free bikes and limo service is also a very nice touch. We didn't have a chance to use either but it's just great to know that these options are available. You should also know that the staff here is the real deal with the utmost integrity. I left my wallet in the room the day we left and within hours of our departure I had a voice mail and email from Lucy letting me know that I had left my wallet behind (again just reinforcing what a class act the entire staff is at the Hotel California). My wife and I were very impressed and haven't stopped talking about this place since we left. We are telling all of our friends and will certainly be back soon.

Room Tip: Room #3 is a ground floor King-bed studio unit with a nice large bathroom and only 10-15 steps away...

We stayed at the Hotel California for 2 nights in May. We were warmly welcomed by Lucy who offered us a welcome drink and showed us around the hotel. The hotel is small and feels very private, there is lots of outside space, so that you can always find somewhere to sit either mingling with other guests or having quiet time with a good book. The pool is warm and inviting and the jacuzzi hot and relaxing. We stayed in the Townhouse which was comfortable and clean, with plenty of room to spead out. It was lovely to have breakfast upstairs on the patio in the warm sunshine. All the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating, providing information on where to eat and making sure we were well looked after. We also used the evening limousine service to take us into town for dinner, quite an experience. This is a very well run small hotel where guests definitely come first. We would stay here again and would recommend without hesitation.

Great relaxed hosts ..... Lucy and her family are great! Everything you need, intimate pool area which was well needed as its 43 degrees here today. Free Budweisers don't go amiss either. Book room 12 if you can....pool views and very private! Love it here!!!
