We were staying at the sister hotel Desert Riviera and couldn't have a late check out but NO PROBLEM says Patty we have a room at Hotel California you can use. Have to say we had already been for a 'sticky beak' and loved the courtyards and fountains surrounding the pool and fell in love all over again. Super clean rooms, the use of bbq plus extensive kitchen condiments, lots of pool towels and sun screen. We can not praise Larry Patty and Lucy enough they welcome you as friends and you leave as family. The effort the make to ensure you lack for nothing during your stay is unbelievable. We are already telling all friends and family they must stay here, we shall most certanly return.

Room Tip: We had a guided tour from Lucy all rooms are great

The hotel was described as being managed by the mangers of the top rated hotel in Palm Springs. It was undergoing renovation which concerned me a bit BUT it was a great place to stay and looked good to me. Quiet. Helpful staff, beds so comfortable that one did not want to get up! Good location.

I recommend this place most highly.

Three years ago we fell in love with the Desert Riviera in Palm Springs. It was the epitome, we felt, of the perfect place to stay, an unrivaled discovery among the many places we had stayed throughout the States and other places in the world. Therefore, in March we were very disappointed to find that “there was no room at the inn.” Judy, just one of the incredible Riviera family, did inform us that they had just acquired the Hotel California. “Wouldn’t we like to give it a try?” she asked. Trusting that the people who had taken such good care of us during our previous visits would not misrepresent the newest link in their “mini-chain,” we booked three nights. We were delighted. The Hotel California, while different, was every bit as charming and as guest oriented as the Desert Riviera. Now in June, we have returned. Although we could have booked in either of the motels, we chose to return to the Hotel California. We found the same sense of family, the same attention to detail and guest comfort as we had at the Riviera. In addition, there is an old world charm that permeates the lush landscape. At night, lights and candles twinkle as we sit and relax with a class of wine and chat with new friends. Everyone is so friendly. Lucy, Larry, and/or Patty circulate making sure everyone feels as though they are visiting their home and that our comfort is their number one priority, always asking if they can get us anything. Our room is tastefully decorated. The bed is fabulous – I want to take it home. Hungry? There is a basket of goodies on the table in the room; coffee is available 24-7in the kitchen. If we want to barbeque, all the accoutrements are available. We can sit around the fire pit, relax in the spa, splash is the pool, stretch out in the sun. In a word, the Hotel California is our new favorite Palm Springs destination and we do not need to feel disloyal as it belongs to the same wonderful people who own and run the Desert Riviera.

Hotel California really does deserve all the accolades published on Trip Advisor. It's all about attention to detail and the very warm welcome you receive when you arrive. It's a family business in the true sense of the word and we certanly felt 'part of the family' during our stay.
It was great to be able to BBQ at our leisure and sit around the shaded pool area which has so much character. There's lots of extras from Jay's limo service into town to constant coffee and free international calls.. The rooms are beautifully decorated and
the bed the most comfortable we've slept in on our travels. Everything you could wish for a perfect stay. We came for two nights and ended up staying five. It was also exceptional value. The owners Larry & Patty and the team have really got it right.
I hesitate to be too praiseworthy as we intend to return next year and would hate for it to be fully booked! All in all a great experience that finished our travels on a 'high' Well done to you all and thanks for making it such a great stay

Having stayed a few times at the exceptional Desert Riviera a block away, we were excited to try this sister property run by the same incredible family. We weren't disappointed! The service was of course exceptional -- you will never find staff who are more genuinely concerned with your comfort and well being, but without being too intrusive. But we loved the lush landscaping, the small patios, the cabana/hot tub, and the very spacious room. The bed was incredible, as were the towels and soaps. Everything was very clean and the kitchenette came in handy. We especially love all of the little extras -- a bottle of wine when we checked in, cold water bottles for the car when we left, newspapers, restaurant menus, limo service to dinner, fresh coffee in the morning, etc. All free. We will definitely be back soon!

Room Tip: The Romantica is secluded and near the hot tub!
