“A perfect retreat!”
Reviewed September 25, 2007

On our 1st trip to Palm Springs we stayed in "A Place In The Sun". I had read the great reviews and booked the 2-Bedroom, 2-Bath room. The master suite had a queen bed and the bathroom within the room. There was only a shower in this bathroom. The other bedroom had two twin beds. The separate bathroom had a shower/bathtub combo. The kitchen was more than sufficient for our needs. The front room was big with a little sitting area in the dining room area. There was a fireplace, but we didn't need to use it. The patio has it's own private jacuzzi. There are also lounge chairs and a table, umbrella, and chairs.

The pool area is so relaxing. We even went for a swim at 8 pm and it was wonderful. We stayed here on Sept. 9-12, so it wasn't crowded at all. They also have a selection of raft and noodles to use at the pool.

You can bring your pets here, but for this time the cats stayed at home.

The owners take really good care of the place. The rooms are immaculate and so are the grounds.

We arrived on Sunday night at about 6:30pm and the office closes at 5pm but they had left instructions for us to get into our room. I didn't personally meet the owners, but my husband had a nice long chat with them and said that they are really nice. They also have cereal, coffee, and pastries in the office.

This was one of the most relaxing trips that we have had in a long time. We will definitely be back, and maybe we will even bring the cats!

Having had some terrible experiences (especially at several gay resorts and the overpriced and overrrated Parker Meridien) at Palm Springs, we decided to book one of the B&Bs that had consistently strong reviews on Tripadvisor. A Place in the Sun is an exceptionally well-maintained, unpretentious, effiiciently run, and pet-friendly hotel, which features an arrangement of simply furnished 1950s bungalows (with many original features) around a small pool. The rooms were in every respect adequate (three of us shared a one-bedroom bungalow, with a day bed in the living area), the mattresses were comfortable, and the place was spotless. We had a very peaceful night's sleep. The gentleman at the desk could not have been more courteous and welcoming. For just over $200 for a night's stay, this was perfect. Strongly recommended.

I spend four days every summer with my sister and daughter at this very relaxing charming hotel. The hosts Ron and Norma are wonderful and always make us feel as though we are the most important guests ever to stay there. The serenity of the gardens surrounding the very clean salt water pool are so relaxing we have a hard time leaving each year. Maybe next year we will stay for a week, if we don't return sooner.

I have gone to this hotel every year for three years and have found it to be my favorite hotel of all time. The service is amazing, and i have really fallen in love with the peace and tranquility of the "small town" feel. I really feel at home at a place in the sun, and love the luscious gardens, crystal clear salt-water pool, and the beautiful rooms!! I spend hours in and by the pool, especially since the pool is salt water! I love how it is easy on your hair (and it doesnt turn blonde hair green like chlorine), and it gives great relief from the heat palm springs is known for. The pool is surrounded by beautiful palm trees, flower beds and lush green grass. From the pool you can see the mountains surrounding palm springs-- a truly gorgeous sight!
In the office they have a large selection of good books and movies that you can use, which i loved-- i took some movies to watch at night in the room, and it was great fun!
They are only a minute's drive away from downtown palm springs, and access to palm desert and the surrounding areas. They are in a quiet area just outside of palm springs.
In fact, I love this hotel sooo much i wanted to keep it to myself, but then i would be being selfish =)
a GREAT hotel

We've stayed at A Place in the Sun 3 times now and it's a beautiful little place. Lovely pool with beautiful flowers and nice grassy area's. We love that people bring their pets - we haven't been able to bring our dog because we fly, so it's nice to have surrogate dogs to play with! We've always stayed in the standard studio's which are a little cramped, but have everything we need. We've looked at the one bedrooms (which are actually little cottages) and they are very spacious and lovely (just out of our price range!) The owners and staff are great. Overall just a nice quiet, comfortable place to stay!

When I stay at A Place in the Sun I feel like a pampered movie star from the old days in my quiet bungalow with the retro decor, a desert breeze wafting through the palms and flowers. I can take a nature walk toward the mountains or head for downtown Palm Springs, take a dip in the pool and jacuzzi (salt, not chlorine), and enjoy the weekend brunches. These hosts really know how to treat their guests!

A warm, charming, small hotel with cottages that surround a peaceful and perfectly groomed garden, pool and spa. We had a lovely two night stay with our dog in one of the bungalow cottages. Our #8 cottage front door opened to a spectacular view of the mountains and our back patio and small yard backed up to a tiny church that rang soft chimes every so often. Our time by the pool was peaceful and pleasant -- the other guests were quiet and friendly. A nice spot that deserves a longer stay. We will go back....
