We really enjoyed our visit to the air museum, great planes (check out the MiG21 outside with all the Russian controls), Volunteers really knew their stuff, many had flown on the planes on display. See the library upstairs for their collection of old Life magazines.

This museum has some very nice displays and is a good way to spend a couple of relaxing hours out of the sun or the hustle and bustle of other Palm Springs venues.

The Palm Springs Air Museum has a wonderful collection of vintage aircraft, with an emphasis on the best known WW II airplanes. Most of the aircraft are in two hangars and are divided into those from the Pacific Theater and those from the European Theater, including a B-17 available for a guided tour of the interior. Other aircraft include what may be the best collection under one roof of Grumman planes. The many well done displays provide an infomative historical tour of WW II. The "Bob Hope: An American Treasure" exhibit was on display while we were there and it was a great tribute to Bob Hope's contributions to the men and women of the military. Outside you'll find more modern aircraft including an A-4, F-16, A-6, F-14, F-4, and F/A-18. There are also engine displays, ship models, flight simulators, and biplane rides are occasionally available. This is a wonderful teaching opportunity for older kids interested in airplanes and learning about WWII.

Most of the aircraft are military and in hangars. They were well maintained. A number of flying vets were there as volunteers and they were very helpful and knew their stuff!
