Not to be missed adventure just a short drive away form downtown Palm Springs. Some people have complained about admission price but I think it was well worth the cost to hike in pristine desert areas with well marked trails. It has dry desert with cactus as well a cool palm lined canyon in the shade.
Going back this later this year and will hike there again to take in more of the scenic beauty!

The oldest palm tree's were beautiful. We just did the mile and a half hike and it was SO beautiful. We saw lizards and got some amazing pictures. We went early in the morning before it got to hot.

We went to Palm Canyon first. So neat to see the water and the palms and the critters running around everywhere. Make sure that you do take some water with you. Check out the hummingbirds on the feeders by the visitors center. Visitors center has drinks and snacks a great prices. The walk from the canyon floor back up to the visitors center is all up hill and can be strenuous if it is warm out and not in that good of shape (like my husband lol). We then drove down to Andreas Canyon. I walked the mile loop trail and thought that this canyon was much more scenic than Palm Canyon. I could have just sat there all day listening to the water trickle over the rocks and watch the critters and birds.

They told us at the Visitor Centre that it was and "easy" hike but we still had to climb over bolders and such like. But the result was superb! We don't "do" hiking, but we were VERY pleased that we did this. Take your time, it's not a race, and keep stopping to admire the view and take pictures.

Wear good shoes, hat and sun glasses. Slap on the sun cream. Take LOTS of water and a picnic for when you get to the oasis. Probably best not to hike alone, just in case.

It is worth paying the few dollars ($8) to park near the beginning of the hike. We didn't and walked twice the distance. Luckily we had a jacuzzi in the hotel waiting for us.

great hiking, some neat to see palm trees in the mountains, but go early if it is spring and take plenty of water, cell phone sporadic, trails marked very well, suggest hiking boots and walking sticks and keep eyes open for snakes
