“A great hike”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2013

They told us at the Visitor Centre that it was and "easy" hike but we still had to climb over bolders and such like. But the result was superb! We don't "do" hiking, but we were VERY pleased that we did this. Take your time, it's not a race, and keep stopping to admire the view and take pictures.

Wear good shoes, hat and sun glasses. Slap on the sun cream. Take LOTS of water and a picnic for when you get to the oasis. Probably best not to hike alone, just in case.

It is worth paying the few dollars ($8) to park near the beginning of the hike. We didn't and walked twice the distance. Luckily we had a jacuzzi in the hotel waiting for us.

“hiking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013

great hiking, some neat to see palm trees in the mountains, but go early if it is spring and take plenty of water, cell phone sporadic, trails marked very well, suggest hiking boots and walking sticks and keep eyes open for snakes

“The oririginal Palm Springs”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

This is where Palm Springs got its name. Cold, clear melt water running off the mountains creating an oasis of greenery and or course, palm trees, in the middle of the desert. Definitely worth a visit

“WONDERFUL DESERT OASIS”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2013

I left my mom at the Trading Post, watching the beautiful Costa's hummingbirds that come to the feeder and walked about a mile into the canyon, along the main path. At the area of big rocks (there is a name for it on the map they give you), I sat on a rock for a while and enjoyed the peaceful setting, before walking back. It was about a mile each way, maybe less, but there are opportunities to hike longer and more difficult trails, with fewer people. It's absolutely gorgeous there - California Fan Palms in a canyon, with water running through year round. The Trading Post is interesting and there is a very small concession with snacks and drinks. If you are in the area, please visit. The entrance fee is about $9 per adult (as seniors we paid $7 each) though you can also go to Andreas and Murray canyons as well.

“Thursday night street fair”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

Every Thursday night they turn six blocks of Palm Canyon Drive right in the middle of the city into a street fair. You can find anything from fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, paintings, ceramics, wood carvings, live musicians playing in different locations and lots of local people with their dogs.
