“Another Great Stay!”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

If there is a nicer clothing optional resort in the US, I sure don't know about it! The grounds are beautiful (and huge), three pools, two hot tubs, just awesome. We stayed in a Chapparal room this time, after staying in a Courtyard room last time. The Chapparal rooms are bigger, but the bathroom is nicer. They're also right next to the pool. If I had to pick one.....probably Chapparal, but either are great. If you've been thinking about trying out a nakation, you won't go wrong here!

Room Tip: Chapparal rooms are closer to the pool with a nicer bathroom, Courtyard rooms are bigger. Condos ni...

We visited the DSR twice this summer. Our first visit we stayed poolside in a lower level Chaparral room and on our second trip we opted for a Courtyard room. Both are great, the Courtyard rooms give you extra elbow room though & the microwave was really convenient.

What's great:
- the staff, warm and friendly
- the guests, easy going and great conversations
- the resort, clean and meticulously maintained

If you are looking for a nude resort, look no further, it doesn't get any better than this. After just two visits the staff remembered us and made sure we were taken care of.

The no cell phone rule is great, I for one can always use a reason to leave the phone behind. People are respectful, if you have any hesitations, don't.

Only two things we'd change, 1) invest in a simple table and get the mini-fridge off the floor, 2) put a lamp on the cabinet, this would make for a great area to get ready and primp.

We will be back!

First off , if you go here, this is a NUDE resort , please know that. This is not a C.O. ,clothing optional, resort esp at the pools. And please don't rate the resort poor because of a misinformed booking. We've been to only a few CO or nude resorts and this is one of the BEST, for first timers or seasoned nudeys.
The service is great and the 24 hour pools and grounds are well maintained. Have fun meeting people especially playing volleyball in the main pool. Or you can just relax. NO sexual activity is allowed outside. Even we were caught just kissing and lightly fondling, alone in the evening in a hottub, and the female "patrol" would say "beep beep" and warn us. Her beep beep made us laugh. And we did not experience any inquires of other lifestyles , which we don't do anyway.
The back saltwater pool is quieter and bigger to float and relax. no music was played there. Floaties and swim noodles are provided. It is also right by the entrance to the walkway over the street. You can go on the walkway nude but you won't be seen by the traffic to cause accidents
Our 2nd floor Chapperall room was good. One inconvienence was the small fridge. it was at floor level, so that meant we had to get on our knees to get anything in or out. We didn't spend much time in our room. The weather was great outside, about 100F.
We agree the food service times could be better. We did have poolside drink service at the main pool only. We noticed hardly any smokers at the pool, which is great. So maybe no smoking at the poolside?
I believe a policy of no cell phones and especially cameras are not allowed at the pools , for obvious privacy reasons. But it would be nice to take some photos to remind us of the fun times we had there. We are looking forward to going back to PSP and the Desert Sun Resort.
If you are unsure of staying at DSR, then get their 2for1 daypass on their website. You can stay at the resort from 10am to 6pm. A locker is provided for your clothes. And a one time $10 membership fee/person must be paid. For more information , check out their website.

Room Tip: 2nd floor Chapparell nice to have a mini "patio" . away from central stairs is more privat...

Great time. Very clean and staff is courteous, friendly and hard working.
Air conditioner had a hard time keeping things real cool.

Overall rooms were nice, neat and clean for the age.

We would definitely stay here again.

It is amazing what a wide-angle lens can do. We expected a much larger resort, more on the lines of Caliente. They managed to pack a lot of resort into a relatively small space of around a city block. The hotel rooms while convenient to the pools were in the need of a major update. They were clean but dated (HC and bathroom especially) and small. The gym was nicely equipped as well as the shop in the lobby. The grounds were lush and well maintained. The guests were also very friendly and welcoming.

Our only real issue was the hours and limited service of the restaurant and bar. There was no poolside bar or food service. You had to go into the restaurant to order. Food service was only available from 11:30 to 2:30 for lunch and dinner from 5 until 8. The bar service was only from 11:30 to 8:30, hours more of a retirement center than an adult only resort, and there was no drink menu. If you got the munchies outside of those times, you had to make do with the snacks in the lobby shop. The thing that helped offset this was the resorts location in Palm Springs. You were in walking distance of Palm Canyon Drive and the vibrant downtown. There were more than a few amazing restaurants there.

If the owners are serious about making this a true “adult only” clothing optional resort, they may want to extend the hours of the bar and serve at the pool. It should be a very good source of incremental revenue. We wish we could have stayed longer not only to enjoy the sun and fun of the resort, but also to explore Palm Springs. We will be coming back to both the next time we are on the West Coast.

Room Tip: Look at the condos for a more updated room.

My wife and I just returned for another visit to desert sun. This place has got to be the nicest cleanest clothing optional resort we have ever visited. We cannot think of another clothing optional resort that has such beautiful grounds. We always stay in the Chapparell rooms which we find to be very neat and clean. The staff at desert sun is very pleasant and friendly, especially Michael the manager. If you ever plan on visiting a clothing optional resort you have to put this place on your list. We rate this place 10 out of 10.

We have been here at least 10 times . We have stayed in all the accommodations that are offered. Our favorite are the villas. The regular rooms are nice but we prefer the extra space of the villas and the condos were to big.
The staff are simply the greatest . They are always welcoming and pleasant. They have nice special events throughout the year that are fun and entertaining. Most importantly .. My wife feels very safe here. Several times I have had to leave to work for the day(at the last minute.) and she felt very comfortable and secure here.
They have a small but well equipped gym that I always use. The cafe has very good food and again the staff is excellent here also. However it is not open during the weekdays except on Friday or holidays. Finding food isn't a problem but it's nice to be able to stay nude all the time so you might want to bring some items to BBQ on your own when the cafe isn't open.
We love this place. Our only problem is this was the first place we tried for our first Nude experience and have had a hard time finding anything to compare to it. For us it's the best.
