Spent 4 days at Desert Sun with friends from Washington and Colorado. Stayed in the courtyard rooms ( do not get #9 because of noisy air conditioner and TV is off to the side). Moved to #6 and room was nice and large. Rooms in the courtyard and the oldest but have a cool feel because of the age. What a great resort to just kick back and relax. Three pools and the staff was very nice and friendly. We especially like the conversation pits and the comfortable seating for just reading and talking with friends. Since it is close to downtown, we ate out everynight we got to enjoy the downtown Palm Springs atmosphere. Would definitly recommend this resort for any nudist who wants a comfortable and stress free time.

What a wonderful resort. My wife was super nervous, But with April on the phone, and Teresa and Michael when we arrived helped some with that, but the reality - less than 10 minutes after we went outside - she was totally at ease. We met several great couples over the weekend, We got some email addresses, and perhaps we'll meet up again. The grounds were fantastic, all the pools and hot tubs are so wonderful. We ended up sleeping early - really early some days and getting up early to see the sunrise. Just get up in the morning and walk outside naked. Awesome! Maria at the restaurant is terrific and the food was great, although limited hours - but that's understandable. The best part for us - no children allowed! Some have complained I hear but - seriously - We didn't want to hear kid voices, screaming, hollering, crying, ugh! We took this vacation to get away from kids and we would not have come here if there were kids. Most of the folks we met didn't even tell their their own kids - of various ages - where they were going and didn't want kids there at all. There's no "lifestyle" stuff at all and they made it clear that it was not acceptable. We met Chuck who had fantastic enthusiasm and runs the Karoke during various events. We had massages and sugar scrubs with Renska and Alex, very relaxing and they are very skilled at what they do. My wife was the first to ask when we were coming back. We stayed at the Chapparell rooms - people have said that they are small - no - they are great. Plenty of room for sleeping, showering and whatever. The room was clean. Nobody stays in their rooms anyway, mostly for sleep. We turned on the TV once - when we first got there. This was one of our best vacations ever!

Room Tip: Chapperell is just fantastic.

This was our 2nd time to this resort, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The grounds are still perfect, and staff are so friendly. The last time we were there was Memorial Day 2011 (big crowd), and the on-site restaurant was pretty much overwhelmed. They have figured that out now, and its very efficient with good quality and more variety. Bride needed a massage, so she did that on Friday afternoon...she said it was awesome.
We did not participate in the late-night activities on our first trip...opting to go downtown instead, but we did hang out some this trip, and found it to be fun (and funny), also, late night volleyball game broke out Friday night, and that was amusing to watch. Met lots of folks from SoCal and all over. Owners were on site part of the weekend, and they are always gracious. See ya next time!

Room Tip: Get a ground floor if you have lots of luggage....watch the steps if you are barefoot. They get HOT

Our stay at the Desert Sun Resort was a wonderful experience. From our arrival in Palm Springs we had no trouble at all finding the resort. Literally, Desert Sun is only a 5 minute drive from the airport. After we checked in Michael who is a great host, gave us a tour of the grounds and suggested some places for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. The entire landscape are well manicured and looks like a small oasis in desert. The aesthetic of the hotel is completely different than your usual naturist, outdoor, campground decor. This was very important to us because we wanted to have a clothes free vacation, that also had resort feel to it. Our favorite pool was the quiet pool because it was a saline pool and it had the best views of the stars at night. The other residents were pretty cool, so if this was your first naturist experience, I doubt you would feel awkward for long. The restaurant was decent although you're not far from the main strip which has plenty of good restaurants to choose from. We suggest Shanghai Reds for killer fish and shrimp tacos and Spencer's which is actually located on a mountain for their Kung Pao calamari. Trust me you won't regret it. Since we traveled in July and I must the dry heat wasn't no where near as sweltering as heat with humidity added to it. Being from Chicago visiting Palm Springs in mid summer really wasn't that big a deal for us. Actually, it was hotter back home on our vacation that it was in Palm Springs. Overall, it was a good mix of rest and relaxation. The next time we are in Southern California I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The Chaparral rooms are very clean and very basic. The only issue we had was the loud air conditioni...

We spent our first visit to the Desert Sun resort and booked for Halloween before we left. We arrived on Thursday before the guest appreciation weekend planned by the resort and stayed through Monday. The place seemed almost empty when we got there but we did not hesitate for five minutes before stripping down and jumping in the pool, beer in hand. People started to arrive Thursday like us and by Saturday, the place was very full considering it was 115 degrees. Thank God for three pools. They were a bit warm but it is kind of hard to cool them down when the nighttime temps were in the high 80's to low 90's. Between the Nudelewed game to Tequila tasting, it was a blast. The best one thing that we took from this resort was the great friendships we made. Average age was from 40 to 70 which gave a well mixed crowd. There were some younger folks too. There was a couple of single guys which were totally fine with the exception of one who was a little weird. He wasn't a gawker or anything, just more of a loner that kept trying to get involved. I would not recommend this resort to a single man unless you either are a regular and know a lot of the regular guests or you don't mind hanging by yourself. It is just the way it is. First time singles should really get a partner before deciding to come. Staff was outstanding across the board. The owners were on site most of the weekend and they were so personal it was great. They really wanted to make sure you were having a good time. We stayed in the Chaparrel rooms which were kind of small but what do you need when you are outside all the time. In reality they were fine with us as that is what we re-booked. We tried all three meals in the restaurant. Service was very good, food was very good, but the selection was lacking a little. But, some guests choose to go off site to eat so you can't have a huge menu or food will constantly go bad in the kitchen. One thing they could do is add some chicken tacos or burritos which would require only tortillas as all the rest of the ingredients are already being used in other dishes. But hey, that's just me who likes spicy foods. They could even do huevos ranchers on the breakfast menu pretty easily. This is a very, very minor issue. The weekend we were there, they had water aerobics, nude yoga, and pool volleyball (every weekend) which was a blast. The one thing we did was bring too many clothes as we went offsite for only a few meals. One couple we met arrived in one set of clothes, took them off and never put anything on from Thursday through Sunday as they never left the resort. As i never met them with their clothes on, they looked funny dressed as we never saw them that way. With the heat, it was by far the best option while on site. As we drove home, we started planning our costumes to wear in about ten weeks when we return. One very nice thing was there were no lifestyle games that we saw and we were told they don't put up with it at all. Go to the place on the hill for that. One really nice thing is that you can bring your own alcohol as long as it is kept out of the restaurant and nightclub. It really saves someone like me a ton as I love my beer on vacation in the sun. All and all, we had a great time and are looking forward to October.

I have been to many clothing optional resorts and this is now my favorite. It is a beautiful, relaxing place and I agree with their decision to not have children. This does not mean that they are a swinger resort. The rules are very clear when checking in and they do enforce them. What a nice change to have an adult only, clothing optional resort that you can just relax at. When tried a massage and was very happy to see a therapist that we used to go to at a different resort. Renska is the best and is very happy there. The cafe is open on weekends and a nice place to socialize with other guests. My husband and I sat at one of the two firepits every night and it is our favorite place to be. Pool volleyball was at one of the pools on Saturday but it is not our thing. We might bring our tennis rackets next time though. You have to try this place. We will be back.
