Palm Canyon Drive had some really nice restaurants and decent shopping. Would recommend strolling there after dinner.

This is where everything happens. There are lots of shops and restaurants on this street. They are a bit expensive though. Thursday night market also happens here. The annual lights parade also runs on this road. For both these events, the street is blocked for motor traffic. Three of the Palm Springs famous museums are also on this street. If you are not staying in this area on your visit to Palm Springs, make sure you visit this street.

Always delightful to walk this street or drive it. You find new and interesting stores and restaurants every time you are on this street.

An attractive street to drive down, though El Paseo Drive in Palm Desert offers classier shopping and dining. The only unique shop we found on Palm Canyon Drive on our recent visit was "Hats" at 144 S. Palm Canyon Drive, which features a great collection of normal (ex. bowler and western) hats as well as fun, comical hats (I bought 4 chicken head hats). The Historical Museum is worth browsing through; watch the video of the history of Palm Springs. Las Casuelas Terraza restaurant with its Mexican exterior and decor is the showpiece of the Drive, though their food is mediocre. In December the Drive is nicely decorated for Christmas, and the Christmas Parade is well worth seeing. Village Fest on Thursday nights, however, is no big deal.

Essential Palm Springs activity is walking along palm canyon drive and looking at the markets in the sidewalk. Some of the markers are well known, Dinah Shore, Frank Sinatra and many are only known to former residents. For us it was like the memory walk in the reality show "survivor"
