This is the essence of Palm Springs. Populated with abundant restaurants, bars, hotels and novelty stores. On a weekend evening it buzzes with tourist foot traffic. There are unusual galleries too, one of them, Latino Books, has all kinds of fascinating Hispanic. literature and memorabilia including genuine movie posters. And the restaurants. Oh My! A deliciouse selection for every taste.

This is the main drag through downtown Palm Springs. Indian Canyon splits into two one way streets with Palm Canyon being the south direction, which has the most restaurants, the Follies and (mostly tacky) shops. There is a welcome to Palm Springs archway. The traffic can get very heavy in the winter season so if you are heading south while in town Sunrise (1/2 mile to the east) is a better alternative.

Looks just like the palm lined oasis that you expect of a place called Palm Springs. Good selection of restaurants and specialist shops.

We were quite surprised to find that on Thursdays there is a street fair. It was fun and had pretty good variety. Lots of fun stores and restaurants so much more charming than Palm Desert. Now if they could just open a Tiffany's it would be perfect.

Daytime: Lots of shops, both boutique and souvenir. Art galleries and frozen yoghurt. Many restaurants have outdoor dining. The walk of fame like Hollywood is kind of fun.
Nighttime: Great restaurants, nightlife, theatre. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed.
If you are there for a week, you could probably visit here three or four times without getting bored. Check out some of the high end thrift shops. Look them up online they are only a short distance down Palm Canyon.
