This must be one of the country's most diverse and colorful shopping and dining strolls. At the uptown end there are tons of what they call here "mid century modern" shops from vintage clothes to antiques to updated modern look furniture and accessories. Great and whimsical shops like Just Fabulous" which features museum of modern art books and gifts as well as a host of other unique gift items. Just fun!. There are restaurants of most every type (don't miss Thai Smile) coffee shops from the ubiquitous Starbucks to home grown roasters. This is a fairly long street so it is a fairly long walk. There are many unique women's and men's fashions in varying price ranges, also great shoes. Mid way you come to the temporary installation of the Marilyn Monroe bronze rendered in full lifelike color with her skirt forever blowing in the breeze. She stands probably 20 feet tall in the middle of a square and will be there for a year. The historic Plaza Theater, with its fabulous Palm Springs Follies (9 shows a week) is here too. I have mainly been here in the daytime but have driven through at night and in a warm summer desert night I bet it is outstanding.

We enjoyed walking along Palm Canyon Drive during our 3 day stay in Palm Springs. One gets a sense of what life was like in the 50's and 60's, when I used to spend Easter vacations. But the big hotels are gone and now mainly restaurants remain along the drive. It is fun to stop for a drink or a meal and take in the passers by. The weather always seems to cooperate so you can enjoy sitting outside at one of the many cafes.

Palm Canyon Drive has something for everyone, food, shopping, gifts. Friendly locals and a safe feeling about it.

By luck we hit palm springs on the night of the street fair So much fun! Palm Canyon is closed to auto traffic for 8 blocks and filled with vendors and artist!

This street has definitely seen much better days! Very depressing in the daylight. A ghost town with lots and lots of empty stores and businesses. Go to VillageFest on Thursday nights, there are lots of people and things to see.
