This museum has a varied collection of paintings and sculptures from various genres. When we were there they had a great glass exhibition that we really enjoyed. From modern art to art of the old west there is something for everyone. We received free tickets from our hotel and in conjunction with the 105 degree heat it was a good place to spend a few hours.

Someone told me to not miss this place. So I didn't. And wow, am I glad I didn't.

It's a great sized museum with a several different exhibits, a cool variety, and really interesting works. It's just big enough that you can see everything and not get worn out.

I was mesmerized by the Yoshitomo Nara "Your Dog" piece. They had a Robert Bechtle that was one of his later works. A Lichtenstein. So no more name dropping... just go see it. Go see it on Thursday afternoons and it's FREE!

We are not "art museum people", but when given free tickets by our hotel, we decided why not go? And are we glad we did! We spent over an hour, and left only because we had another engagement. The pieces on display were beautiful, and reading about them explained what their creator was hoping to portray. The Contemporary Glass exhibit was our favorite. It was a good way to spend part of an afternoon.

A great collection for a regional art gallery - we went for an hour and then stayed for four. Food in the cafe is great too.

While in Palm Springs, we visited the 10,000 s.f. Palm Springs Art Museum in Downtown Palm Springs. It is a beautiful building designed by renowned Palm Springs architect E. Stewart Williams and blends very well in that "desert style" with the rocky mountain "rises" immediately adjacent. They specialize in western and Native American art but during our visit an interesting and occasionally quirky modern art exhibit was on display as well. The museum is supported by some very well known "names" and so the art works are of high quality. It took us a couple of hours to browse through the entire museum; time very well spent in air conditioned comfort with the outside temperatures approaching 105. Be sure to check the current schedule because it is seasonal and variable. Well worth the time.
