“A Bistro in every sense of term, and good!”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

We had dinner last week, the atmosphere is was warm, friendly, and easy place for a casual evening . The server was knowledegable, confident, and friendly, the food was delievered HOT, well prepared and as promised. The veal piccata was perfect, light , tasty and well prepared. The wine was good, and a great value.
The salads were tasty and a good portion, not overly large and they were also prpeared to make them smaller if one wants...
we will retun, the italian food was tasty, hot, well prpeared, not overdone...
the experience is as it promises: a bistro, located in a "back street " of Palm Desert...it is like a neighbourhood kind place, where one could be wquite happy returning time and time again.

Jazz saturday afternoons, a large patio, with heaters.
it is great value, and well woryh the visit.

“Back again, and so glad I came!!!”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

I am an "off hours" diner, which is so much easier than fighting the crowds at the usual meal times. Thankfully the lunch menu was available when I got there because the Arugula and Veggie salad is my favorite in the valley. I have it with chicken and manage to eat the entire salad with no problem or apology!! Love to be able to chat with the servers and the owner, it is consistently the friendliest place in the desert!! They are one of the few places in the desert that allows dogs and I take my hat off to the owner for doing this!! All dogs are well behaved and content, adding a very happy vibe to this quaint and lovely place. So good, don't miss it!!

“Good value for food, service and price!”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

We were 2 couples and each had different appetizers and entrees. First the wine list was satisfactory and very reasonably priced. My caesar salad was just OK, the Endive Salad seemed to have lost the artichokes. However the Caprese Salad was more than ample. The Entrees were all generous portions and the pasta was good. Lots of seafood in the Linguine pasta. Would go back again.

“American fare”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

Have eaten here on various occasions over the last few years of visiting here in the desert. Good basic fare with good service. Decent portion sizes. Open only on weekends for breakfast. Adequate value for money. Live entertainment on some evenings.

“Dogs can enjoy a Patio Restaurant too!”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

Unlike France, most North American restaurants do not allow dogs - except the Backstreet Bistro, on the patio, in Palm Desert. We were in the Saturday "El Paseo Poodle Walk" with friends and their two standard poodles, and afterwards many of the poodle owners went to the Backstreet Bistro's patio for breakfast. Water bowls are available, and it was a big friendly family of people and dogs. And the breakfast was delicious - I had the sausage omlet (beautifully spiced), others had the steel-cut cereal, or lox and bagel, or poached egg on toast. Everyone was happy, including Felix and Abby (the two poodles).
