I stayed this week at this hotel. The room was nice, it is like a small apartment, but you have no hotel services except for housekeeping. If you want to cook, it is very good, but you have to leave the property for any need you have except for a little store for basic products, like drinks and other small stuff.
for the price I rather stay in a hotel where I can have all services, like restaurant, Spa, etc.
If you want a big suite without services this is a great place.

We recently stayed at this hotel/villa and it was really nice. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the pool areas and children's play areas are excellent. The villa we stayed in was a 2-bedroom, 2 bath. It had an outdoor patio area which overlooks the golf greens. The master was very spacious and had a double-seat jacuzzi which our 2 year old grandson enjoyed. The unit had a washer/dryer and full kitchen with stainless steel appliances. The units are timeshares but they don't pressure you into attending presentations. There are two hotels in this huge gated complex. There are markets and restaurants near by. Living room has a sofabed and with both bedrooms, you could sleep 8. We don't golf but the courses are beautiful with waterfalls, lakes and manicured greens and are nice to enjoy for all.

Room Tip: The villas are two story and I didn't see any elevators so we asked for a room on the first floo...

We have stayed in the villas several times and look forward to going back every year. The villas offer both 1 and 2 bedrooms and are quite spacious. There is a large family room and separate dining area with a nice size kitchen. The villas have several pools to choose from and there is a very nice fitness center. The villas are always clean and well kept up. We have gone many times in the summer months and the rates are very reasonable in the off season.

Room Tip: Many of the top level villas have balconies along the golf course.

We just check out at desert spring villa 2. We stay there for 2 nights. The ground is nice but since it is a time share the check out time is too early at 10:00. They only leave 2 bag of coffee for you to brew, no sugar, cream. In bathroom, there are 4 soaps and I shampoo. That is it. I stay at this propery many times already. It seems it gets less each time. If you want a peppering vacation this is not for you. But, with kids this is conscience.

Room Tip: On golf course

We stayed at this property over the Halloween weekend to get away from the PA weather. Good location in Palm Springs. Did not realize until checking in that this is one of their time share properties. Very spread out but not hard to find your way around. Had a ground floor unit that had a nice view of the golf course. King bed & livingroom with a small kitchenette made it nice to keep some snacks, water, etc cold. They seem to have a number of different sized units to handle all sizes of families. Since we were like a hotel guest we had daily maid service but if you were staying there as one of the "owners" then you had alot more rules to follow. They had a little "store" by the lobby for basics. Did not go to the pools but they looked nice like and well kept. Seemed to be many activities for the guests if you were interested. The only down side was that at night somehow we seemed to get a grasshopper in the bathroom that had to be chased down and flushed away.

This is the 3rd time that we've been at DS2. Also it is the 3rd time that we've really enjoyed it.

When we went to check in, we asked for a room that had a nice view of the golf course water feature. The check in guy, took a lot of time trying to get us the unit that we wanted. We ended up with an ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL room that overlooked the big water feature. We enjoyed watching the ducks. Thanks Marriott!

The adult (quiet) pool was fairly warm, but could have been a degree or two warmer. But the weather was cool and the air temperature may have exagerated that a bit. But the hot tub was clean and toasty.

We found our unit to be clean, quiet and well equipped. Marriott is in the process of updating their DS2 units but we stayed in an unupdated unit. But, nevertheless it was still very comfortable and enjoyable.

The free wifi worked fine.

On our last night there we went to the Lake View restaurant at the adjoining JW Marriott. We took the free shuttle there. We were going to have wine with dinner, so this eliminated any potential issue with a DUI or needing a cab. When we got there we took a motorized gondola to the restaurant. Is that cool or what? The food was good and while not inexpensive, was probably fairly priced. We were pleasantly surprised when the waiter mentioned that if we were staying at the Marriott (JW or DS1 or DS2) that we would get a 20% discount. That made the meal a lot more affordable.

When we were staying there we went to the College of the Desert (swap meet), the Thursday street fair in Palm Springs, Joshua tree (we hiked to the Desert Queen gold mine and the Silver Bell gold mine - reasonably easy hike and enjoyable). We ate at Poppa Dans (pizza), Babes BBQ, Sherman's deli, and a couple of other places. All were pretty good.

My one complaint is that if you have a feather allergy, they provide you with less than Motel 6 quality alternatives. My wife has a severe feather allergy. Their pillows and comforter are top end !! AND with feathers. So, while they are nice for perhaps 90% of the users, there are 10% who end up with substandard bedding. The replacement pillows are small and quickly pack down to an even smaller size. The blankets are pilled, worn and don't fit the bed. When we went to an owner's meeting, there were 3 other people who had asthma/allergies and commented on this issue. One person said that Marriott should be embarrassed. The head of their engineering dept. took notes and so did his boss. So we'll see if anything changes.... If not, I'm report this again and probably communicate it up the Marriott chain-of-command plus will lower my rating. But I'm temporarily giving them a "pass". I'm retired and I have the time and interest to pursue this...

Nevertheless, it was a great trip and experience (again). BTW, as a disclosure, after our 2nd stay at DS2, we liked it so much that we bought a DS2 timeshare on the resale (eBay) market.

Room Tip: Go for the 2nd floor. There won't be anyone clomping around upstairs.
