“UNEXPECTED DELIGT & DELICIOUS!”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

Vacationing at the Marriott Desert Villas with friends. Went to casino for a little gambling. Marriott gave us names of restaurants that offered a discount. Went by a couple and looked at their menu, disappointing. Looked at the list they gave us and on the list was Papa Dan's. Drove their, even though it was a little out of our way. The place was packed which was a sign of good food. Three of us had pizza and I had a chicken caprese which was delicious,
and it came with pasta. The pasta definitely needed salt, but the dish was still delicious. The others thoroughly enjoyed their thin crust pizzas. The atmosphere was great. It was a little noisy because of the families with young children, but that was okay. The atmosphere was great. When we are out this way again, we will definitely go back.

“Best Pizza in Town! as are the pastas”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

Though the menu of specialty pizzas, salads, and pasta dishes is extensive, my favorites are Papa Dan's Specialty Pizza on a thin crust, the antipasto salad drenched in Italian dressing, and the Italian sausage-stuffed cannelloni liberally smothered in a homemade, white garlicky-cheesy Alfredo sauce. My wife and I frequent Papa Dan's regularly either as dine-in guests or for delivery. Although the wait staff seems to be comprised of college students with some "learning disabilities," we gladly overlook any imperfections in service because the food is so good. Papa Dan's is a little over-priced but, once again, the food is really good!

Located on Country Club just east of Monterey, Papa Dan's is surrounded on all sides by golf resorts of Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage, namely the Marriott Resorts at Shadow Ridge (Monterey) and Desert Springs (Country Club). The hotels and resorts of Palm Springs and Indian Wells/La Quinta are nearby, too. If you're a tourist at a time share within a five mile radius, Papa Dan's delivers.

Papa John's used to be my favorite. I can easily eat three slices of a large Papa John's specialty pizza. But Papa Dan's is now my new favorite for pizza. I can barely eat two slices of the large Papa Dan's Specialty Pizza because it is so overloaded with everything yummy! Sorry, Papa John. Although more expensive than Papa John's, Papa Dan's pizzas are "bigger" in the sense that there are more ingredients on the same sized pizza, not to mention the plethora of other menu items: salads, pastas, soups, etc.

Whether you're a local or tourist for dine-in, take-out, or delivery, Papa Dan's is highly recommended. If you're a tourist ordering for delivery, be sure to insist upon paper plates, napkins, and plastic tableware.

“Prefer to do the 'take out' and it is worth the drive to get it!”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

We have dined in and taken out, and we prefer the taking out ... and the taking out for us is always a large combination pizza and a large antipasta! The pizza is really sublime ... the crust never disapppoints and the the toppings are never overcooked or soggy. Every topping is identifiable ... which is pretty amazing ... no seeping into each other.
The antipasta is so good ... the cheese and meat roll ups, the fresh (very fresh) lettuce ... the garbanzos ... great dressing ... and plenty of it.
During the season, you can hardly get in due to the crowds, so we have grown accustomed to doing take out and now it just seems the 'thing to do' ...
Really do recommend Papa Dan's ... and the pizza is almost as good the next day!

“Good Salad, pizza crust was doughy”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Stopped in here after golf for a quick lunch. Both of us ordered different salads and they were fresh and very good. Had one slice of pizza each and the crust was doughy. Maybe if we had ordered a full pizza that was made to order it would have been different.Service was excellent and we always had full glasses of iced tea.

“A must dine when in town!”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Stumbled across this quaint little Italian place about 15 years ago (they had been in the Entertainment Book).
Well everything were in town it's a must dine on our list!
Good food, wine and ambience. Doesn't matter what day of the week, always busy!
They don't take reservations so plan for a little wait on weekends. You can aways get a glass of wine or beer & wait outside amongst the twinkle lights, love it!
