“Never had a bad meal here”

I like their chicken crepes here. Also the eggs benedict is good. The atmosphere is fun when it's not too hot. I think they close down for the hottest months. It's a popular place. The service can be slow but the food was good enough to let that slide. This last time we visited there was an obnoxious bunch of cackling girls laughing at the utmost decibel their lungs would let them...I know the restaurant can't do anything about that, just made it irritating so we ate fast and got out.

“Underwhelming”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

We were expecting a lot more from this place. I'm not sure what the provenance of the cuisine is - but it's certainly not French. Sauces were heavy, cloying and reminiscent of bad American gravy. Nothing tasted particularly fresh or was well-executed. The chocolate mousse was horribly sweet and came with a fake tasting 'strawberry' sauce. And there were a lot of flies - we're both from Europe and not hygiene freaks, but this was quite off-putting. We travelled quite a distance for this meal, having read some rave reviews. It certainly did not live up to the hype.

“Lost in translation”

Not sure what is French about this restaurant (I go to France quite often). I had the coq-au-vin but it lasted like my high-school lunch. I can't remember what my husband ate but he didn't like it either. I kept thinking that maybe the French chef was sick that day but the food was too bad for us to go back there.

“French bistro serving delicious food”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

Having frequented this French restaurant on each of our visits in the Palm Springs area over the years, it is perhaps time to write a favorable review to offset some complainer's views. All our visits have been for dinner in rather warm weather, as a result we sat inside rather than on the enclosed patio on the sidewalk, foregoing the people-watching benefit.
The ambiance of the restaurant is casual, yet pleasant, the servers are aiming to please, take time to explain menu options, and service is prompt. Portions are ample and pours of wine by the glass are generous.
From appetizer over main courses to desserts, we have yet to order an item with which we were not wholly pleased. In fact, the Café Des Beaux Artes is a must go stop on our list of restaurants in the Palm Springs area, and anyone seeking French food without snob appeal and at affordable prices can not go wrong here. Ample parking is found on the street and in back of the restaurant. As for us we have been and will continue to visit here whenever we have a chance.

“Good crepe, terrible service”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

My wife's crepe was good, but I ordered a croissant sandwich with just turkey and cheese, and it came with mayo and a tomato. Sent it back, and the second time it came back with the tomato removed. Same sandwich. No apology from the server or the manager. Not charged for it, but the service was absolutely terrible.

Good location, but not recommended due to poor service.
