...here's where I'm coming from---I play ~25 rounds of golf in the desert each year, but this is the first time I've played this course. Most of the time I play Desert Willow (Firecliff course is 5 star for design/views/typical condition), but I also play some private clubs and the La Quinta/PGA West courses. I'm a 3 handicap. So here goes: The design is quite good. Lots of water, but very playable. Course condition quite good for August. GPS units not as good as Desert Willow---harder to read and not as bright. The $45 green fee late in the summer (with a $15 food coupon) is a total deal. If you don't carry a single digit handicap, do yourself a favor and play the white tees--you'll have a better playing experience--the fairways were well watered, resulting in very little roll--ergo, the course can play longer than the scorecard would suggest. Clubhouse facilities were great. Try to play early in the a.m. before the wind starts up.

Arnie sure can design a golf course!!
Built for the Bob Hope Tournaments, you really can challenge your game, with class, as Troon does a splendid job managing the propery. Stay for the treats at Bellatrix restaurant after. You may read my entire review with photos on greenskeeper online community. Go Play

I am sure this course is a lot better during the high season. Played this course in June 2013 and the greens were very hard and did not roll true at all. They were a complete joke. Almost unplayable. If they just punched them let us know ahead of time.

Spectacular golf course. The range is amazing and so is the clubhouse. The staff is extremely friendly too. Really fast round when I played.
