Marriott's Shadow Ridge I-The Villages

We stayed at the shadow ridge for 3 days and it was just ok. When we booked we had asked for a late checkout as our flight was at 8 pm and were told it should not be a problem. Last night before we left I went to desk to confirm our late checkout and was told no way no how that checkout was 10 am and they had other people coming. If they would have told me that from the get go we would have gone some where else.
The room was ok equipped with a fridge and microwave. Pool area was very good as was the check in process and billing. Since we first booked I have received about 10 emails whack kinda gets annoying after a while.
The room was a good price and the food at the grill was excellent. Shout out to Manny for great service!

Room Tip: Middle of the resort is best close to the pools and services

We booked last minute and tried to get a 2 bedroom suite but Marriott has a strange policy that you can only buy points once per year. Instead we were forced into booking 2 separate rooms, which would have been okay but we weren't told that we were booking lock offs connected to a 1 bedroom suite. Our rooms were 10 rooms away from each other and in one room we were woken up at 7am every morning by the kids in the adjoining room. Another issue was the sofa bed, it was unusable as it was so old and thin that the springs could be felt right through the mattress. We were told that they needed to be replaced as we were not in a renovated room The best they could do we were told is to put a blanket under it. On our 5th night were suddenly told that they could have replaced the mattress? Why wasn't this offered in the first place?
The maid service was also slow and I had to call every day to make sure the rooms were done by 3pm. We also found a lot of hair in the beds, perhaps they should wear hairnets when cleaning the rooms? The staff tried to help but seemed inexperienced, and bear in mind this is not a hotel but a timeshare property. On our last morning there the check out was 10am and they kept calling us to leave the room as we were a few minutes late.
On the plus side the grounds are very nice and the pool area is relaxing (quiet pool ) I would only come back if I could get the whole 2 bedroom suite as the lock off has no privacy.

Room Tip: Try for a renovated room on the main floor.

Spent the week in a 2-bdr villa the week before the Christmas week. This is a particular quiet week and most facilities on the property were practically empty. During checkin, we were able to get a particular unit that overlooks the 16th green and the mountains in the background. (See picture) Most of the other units have great views as well. The villa is a standard 2-bdr with a good size kitchen and living area. The 2nd bedroom has a king bed with a pull out sofa bed. Depending on the location of the villa, it is a little bit of a walk to the club house and other facilities even though you can call a shuttle to pick you up.
I prefer this facility over the more traditional Marriott Desert Springs hotel/villas.
Oh, did I mention that the weather throughout the week was in the low to mid 70's.

Great apartments, hotel facilities are great and and had loads of fun. It was very hot at the time we went there, but was great. Just watch out there are a lot of large insects there in the night time. The kids found this a little scary. But otherwise we had a great time. We drove into LA from here to goto Disney Land with the kids.

We are spending a week in a two bedroom villa that is large and very comfortably furnished. Ours is an end unit that overlooks the golf course (I think they all do). There are two balconies so it is easy to enjoy the outdoors. We took a walk around the property yesterday (Christmas) and it was fun to see so many people basking in the sun around the different pool areas. The service offered by the staff has been excellent.....front desk, the restaurant, the Marketplace, shuttle drivers. We've had dinner twice and lunch once in the Grill restaurant. Service and food were excellent each time. We would definitely return here.

Room Tip: Get an end unit.

We LOVE the Marriott Shadow Ridge!!!! We have been coming here one to two times per year and have always had exceptional stays. The rooms are excellent. Very new, modern and feels like home complete with washer & dryer. The pull-out couch bed is tempurpedic/foam and we all fight over who gets to sleep on it it's so darn comfortable! The staff here are simply amazing. We called a few times for a high chair, crib, baby proofing electrical outlets, eyeglass screwdriver, more towels, trash to be taken, etc. Every single time someone arrived very promptly (the front desk staff alerted housekeeping for guest requests via iPhone so they have some kind of an amazing backed system in place!) and the staff were all lovely. We especially love the lake views off the 1200 bldg balcony, walks around the property and the kids activity center is a DREAM for every child. Call ahead to get their weekly activity schedule. They have lots of fun cooking classes and activities for adults. The pools were heated to 86 degrees and excellent for a winter swim. Our other favorite thing to do in the desert is eat at all of our hot spots --- Babes BBQ & Villagio Pizzeria to name our favorites. We highly recommend this property - it's really the only place to stay especially if you have kids and family.

We just returned from 1 week staying at the Marriott Shadow Ridge resort and can say that the entire stay was exactly like the last 3 stays that we have had here. We stayed in Building 2500 to be close to the tennis courts - the reason why we go to Palm Desert in the first place. Our 1 bedroom ground floor unit - 2507 has been fully renovated and was very, very clean and tastefully reno'd. The tennis courts are just outside the front door. Our week was unusually cool for the Desert and building 2500 patios all face northerly so no sun whatsoever. Another downside is a 15 minute walk to the "adult pool". When returning next December, we would probably choose Buildings 1200, 1400, or 1500 as they have southern exposure to their patios and just drive to the tennis courts. there is plenty of parking spaces at these courts. On 1 night at 3 am the unit directly above us woke us up due to noisy partying. A quick call to security provided prompt response. As soon as we heard security knocking on their door, all quieted down. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely look forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: if staying in the cooler months, choose a building with patios backing onto southern exposure
