Enjoyed a 3 night stay at the resort December 1-2,2011 and once again the resort did not disappoint. Everything in the room was clean with all the comforts of home. We had a one bedroom unit with a kitchen so it was super convenient to have snacks and a light breakfast in the mornings. I especially like staying here because of its proximity to everything Palm Springs has to offer yet far enough away to avoid the crowds. We went downtown to see the annual Christmas Parade. We found a nice little restaurant with a table at the sidewalk and enjoyed some awesome fish tacos, cold beers and the parade all at the same time. After the parade we headed back to the Marriott to relax in the peace and quiet of our room. Yes, the resort layout is fairly large, but we have never had a problem finding a parking space or feeling crowded. A great place to relax and unwind. Outlet malls are close by as well. I highly recommend staying here

Room Tip: Ask for a high room (3rd floor) with Golf Course View. 2100 buildings have nice views of golf cours...

Some of the reviews were not too good so I was a little concerned. We shouldn't have been- It was a terrific week- we bought a week through Interval and couldn't have been more pleased. Beautiful 1 bedroom unit on the 16th hole across from main pool, excellent condition, easy access to everywhere and no pressure to buy. Don't miss the street fair downtown Palm Springs on Thursday nights, raisins and dates are so yummy!

Room Tip: We loved building 16.

We are not owners at this property, but really enjoy staying here. My husband loves the golf course at this property, and I love that this is such a nice alternative to staying at a hotel. We definitely prefer it over the nearby Desert Springs JW Marriott.
The resort is large and very popular with families, so expect lots of kids running around. The units offer "lock-off's", so you can rent:
-a full 2 bed/bath,
-a very large 1 bed/bath (with w/d in unit!), or
-a studio.
The studio is comparable to a hotel room, but has the added convenience of a mini kitchenette, complete with dishes/utensils for 2.
We were very happy with our studio this visit, it's really the perfect size for couples. I would not recommend it for families, or more than 2 people (they say it can fit "4").
The 1 BDR is HUGE, with a very generously sized patio. The studio units have a much smaller patio, with 2 chairs and a small table.

Room Tip: The resort is large, try to request a building near your desired attraction: golf club house, kiddie...

This was my 5th visit to shadow Ridge, and I come all the way from Holland and I am not interested in golf...

This resort is simply great - large, spacious, comfortable, VERY clean, ample parking, with efficient service and fully equipped apartments that are just perfect. You just don't want to leave the place.

Swimming pool area is wonderful - always large choice of lounge chairs, free towels and a vibrant bar with good choice of drinks and snacks.

Palm Desert centre is about 10min drive and full of shopping sites and restaurants.

On the minus side - gym is nice but small with great cardio machines but very poor choice of other training machines. Also, please note check out is strict 10AM and bed sheets are only changed once in 7 days. I understood these are part of the Marriott Resort Members' policies.

Nevertheless, it is almost too good to be true place.

We've been going to Shadow Ridge for 6 years now and just got back from another glorious week in Palm Desert. Can't say enough about the area...there is something to do for everyone. Shopping, hiking, attractions, tours and GOLF! Shadow Ridge itself is a beautifully manicured golf resort. The pools are nice and they have several, so there is a "quiet" pool (would only be better if the music was played a little softer) and areas for the children to play. The golf course is nice, but a bit difficult for women. We played Indian Springs *****, Eagle Falls *****, Escino*****, and the men LOVE Silverrock ***** and PGA West*****. Hubby took a day off from golf and we went hiking at Indian & Andreas Canyons...incredible! Shopping is awesome, as well.

I'd give the resort a 5, but........As for Shadow Ridge and Marriott, they've been promising that the units will be "newly redecorated" for a couple of years, but it still hasn't happened. Housekeeping is not quite to my standards (my feet were black after walking barefoot shortly after we got there - not sure if it was the carpets or the tile floors), but they turn the units around so fast on move in/out day, that they get most of it right. Front desk is very attentive and helpful, but the consierge desk personnel weren't as good, since we told them we are NOT taking a tour this year. We usually do, but just didn't want to this year. However, one concierge that's been with Marriott for 11 years, was absolutely AWESOME.

People with children should ask for FIRST FLOOR units. That way, the kids running and jumping around doesn't bother the neighbors beneath them. Otherwise, the neighbors must call security and it ends up not being nice for anyone.

Next year...I want to take the Windmill tour...yes! We'll be back!

Room Tip: The new Enclave is gorgeous! They overseed in October, so that is not the best time to go for golf.

We stayed recently ( October 2011) at two of the Cochella Valley Marriott properties, one week each, back to back. We are Marriott owners for twenty years running. This one, the newer of the two at which we stayed was so disgusting we could hardly wait to leave. Were it not for local appointments, we would have left on day two of the stay.

OVERALL EXTERIOR of the property is very nice and well maintained.

POOL AREAS were very crowded, and offered little parking other than the street. This created a very real hazard because children are running everywhere with no regard to crosswalks, parked cars, traffic, etc. parental supervision was absent.

THE 2 BR UNIT was F-I-L-T-H-Y dirty. The carpet was grimy with spilled something in the carpet and very noticable. A walk in stocking feet gathered so much grime that the socks were actually black with dirt. Countertops were the usual grimy. Tile in the bath areas was equally grimy. Dust hung from every corner, and the areas behind dressers, headboards, etc. looked like they had never been vacuumed.
ROOM SIZES were small and certainly would not sleep / accommodate more than 4 adults or a family of 4 comfortably.
WALL SAFE was locked when we got to the room. Not wanting to be charged for a missing key, we called for help. The maintenance man came and pried th safe open, only to find an unknown leafy like substance carefully wrapped in tissue.
Now I hae to wonder why housekeeping did not notice or report the locked safe and no key. Did it occur to them that the next party to occupy might want to use that safe?
Housekeeping is asleep at the wwhitch, and it is evident at every turn.
WI-FI was hit and miss. Sometimes access just didn't happen or couldn't happen.
FURNITURE was dated, filthy dirty and worn.
BED LINENS were old and worn out.
TOWELS were also worn and nearly threadbare.
PATIO AREA was overrun with black widow nests as well as rabbit urine and feces. Many rabbits roam freely. The area was unusable. We did clean it up ourselves, but still chose to opt out of using it.

CHECK IN was the usual Marriott confusion, with a mandated wait for the room to be "cleaned". I am always amazed at the Marriott check in process, that involves staff that all seem to be busy to the point of desperation, yet no guests seem to be getting served.
Marriott, get a clue; your entire check-in process can be done on this thing called the internet!! And, it can be done well in advance of the guest arrival.

OUTDOOR GRILL AREAS were disgusting. The grills looked as if they had never been cleaned, and the ceramic briquettes were nearly absent. I would never attempt cooking on these grills.
Leaking propane was very evident in the air, even over 100 yards away.

RESTAURANTS - we did not even look since we know the area very well and know where to go for good food.

Overall, we will not be going back. Marriott, this property is in need of some aggressive management.

We stayed at Shadow Ridge for a little over a week. The giant resort (and I mean giant) is spread out and well manicured. The grounds are some of the loveliest we have ever seen. The entire area is surrounded by breathtaking mountains which make a spectacular backdrop. This resort has everything: several large pools, a magnificent golf course, a rec room, restaurant, you name it. Location is excellent - not far from Palm Springs area attractions, and also close to many shopping centers.

We had a large one bedroom that featured flatscreen televisions in both the living and bedroom as well as a washer and dryer. I was pleased to see that the kitchen was well-stocked with just about every utensil we needed. We ate in a couple of mornings and nights which was nice on our budget. It allowed us to spend more money on tours so that we could see and learn about the area!
