We enjoyed the excellent entrees in the restaurant. Two has salmon made different ways; one had the pork schnitzel, and I had the spicy Italian sausage in pesto. All were tasty. We did not take advantage of the wine selection; but it was a great idea.

We tried this restaurant after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor.

THE GOOD: I love the concept of shopping in the wine shop, picking out a bottle of wine for dinner and only having a $5 corkage fee added to the price of the wine. The bottle we picked out was 30% below on-line prices for the same wine and the vineyard website suggested retail price. You don't get hammered with 3 - 4 times the suggested retail price just to have a bottle of wine with your dinner. The staff, although young, were extremely pleasant and helpful in discussion of wine choices and menu choices.

THE BAD: The menu presents a nice selection of appetizers, small plates, salads and entrees. We selected a flatbread (see below) and because of ravings on this website over the scallops, we both chose the scallops. Even in WI, we can get reasonable scallops. Unfortunately, for us, the dish had a sauce including olives that completely overwhelmed the scallops. We prefer to have the scallops stand separate as the star of an entrée. That is not the case. The entrée was good but far from great. Want great scallops in the desert, go to Tintos.

THE UGLY: Duck confit flatbread. Absoulutely no flavor until salt and pepper were applied. The very basic of a flatbread is the flatbread itself. This tasted as though it were a product from the frozen food section of your grocery store. This was a huge disappointment and was truly the ugly part of the meal.

We will go back sometime to try other selections. Flatbread will not be one of those selections!!

We are big fans of 3rd Corner in Encinitas so we went to the Palm Desert location during a visit to the desert. The food and wine selection was as good as always. The restaurant decor is fancier and the overall experience seemed more "serious" - not a criticism, just an observation.

Before arriving from NYC I read reviews of this place. I couldn't figure out the concept but when we arrived I was blown away. They have a nice wine shop in the middle of the restaurant with great bottles at fair prices. Natalie our server was great. The sausage flatbread, the sprouts and our pasta were our of this world. Our food, bottle of wine, corkage fee and tip were $80...amazing. I can't wait to come back here for vacation to visit this restaurant again.

The waiter didn't know about the wines although this is a wine shop. It took us 20 minutes to get a menu and then 1 of our meals didn't show up. The waiter told us that it was taken by another server. We waited and after 15 minutes of just sitting there (no bread or things to snack on) we asked the waiter. Again, another wait and after 45 minutes we got up, paid for the glass of wine we had and left.
