Great new Westin property. We stayed in the 1bdrm villa, with a stocked kitchen, TV in the living room and bedroom, bose system, and most important a VERY COMFY & COZY bed. The property is near shopping malls, restaurants, and grocery stores to stock up your fridge. The pool area was great, especially for the kids. They had activities going on appx every hour or so, from making a stuff animal, crafts, bingo, and in the evenings a family dance pool party or movies by the pool. Very family oriented, and great family environment. We tried ordering food and beverages while at the pool but it was very hard to flag one of the waiters down, they need more staffing in this area. When we did FINALLY manage to flag someone down and ordered, the food was great, large serving sizes too!

Hubby enjoyed the golf course (right on the property), the shuttle cart picked him up and took him straight to the club house. He enjoyed the fact that he didn't have to drive there. As a guest of the Westin you get a discounted rate at the course, which was plus+plus in our book!

Our over all experience was great, we'll definitely be back Labor Day weekend.

This is a relatively new Westin property, a tad over 1 year. Good location near attractions, shopping malls, good restaurants = everything in the Palm Desert/Springs region.
The larger villas have 2 televisions, lovely bedrooms...and a huge magnificent bathroom equipped with a Jacuzzi. Comfy & cozy .......

Once we arrived at the property .... we asked about staying additional nights...into the Memorial week-end. The hotel was already booked solid for the Holiday itself. We certainly completely understood this; no problem. Our frustration was in the fact that the hotels' own registration desk told us to call every day/as much as we wanted ... to the 1-800 Westin line = to see if we could extend our stay by that 1 extra night, that we were seeking. When we began phoning the Westin direct reservation line, the 800 phone operator asked why I wasn't phoning the Desert Willows direct = rather than to the 1-800. I gave her the reason that was told to me.....and she agreed, that that particular hotel has 0 "waiting lists!" Too bad = that our own hotel desk could/would not merely keep our name = should an opening for that one night suddenly appear????? It is a lovely place to stay .......Finally, we finally gave up phoning, and decided to stay elsewhere for the remainder of our stay in the Desert .....

Very nice desert property located adjacent to 2 excellent golf courses. Villas spacious & nicely furnished. Staff friendly but a little inexperienced; place has been open about 1 year. Nice kids program in area separate from adults.

We just got back today from a wonderful 4 1/2 day stay at the Westin Desert Willow Villas. What a majestic place. We arrived late Tuesday evening, however, check-in was easy and quick. The next morning we met with our coordinator, CANDICE. She was so friendly and personable. She provided us with all sorts of sight seeing adventure information as well as several coupons to use in town. I can't say enough about Candice. Just a pleasant and nice person who really just wanted to get to know us to have a good time. I really felt like I had known her forever. The grounds are beautiful and the golf course to die for. My husband said it was the BEST course he had ever golfed on. The pool was magnificant and best of all, it's open 24 hours. And the service was great there as well. On one evening we accidently got locked out of our safe in our room (our fault), but the engineer was at our room within 5 minutes to unlock it. ALL of the workers there are so helpful and ready to lend a helping hand. We were amazed that everywhere we turned, they were saying "good morning" or asking if there was anything that they could do for us. A beautiful place to stay with wonderful employees which make it all the better. This time we stayed in the smaller of the Villas. We are so hoping that we will get the opportunity to stay in the larger one soon. If you are looking for a truly remarkable experience, don't miss these Villas. Jeff & Kari Stokes

My biggest complaint is the golf course lawn mowing (right outside your window) that started at 6.20 in the morning weekdays, so unless you sleep like Dracula you will be woken up.

There is no room service nor a full restaurant, on property, for breakfast.

The place is beautiful, big, well-appointed villas although a little on the dark side. We were on an upper floor but the room was still dark and had to have the lights on all the time.

Very nice pools and gym with food and cocktail service. Two pools for children on the lower side and one for adults with relaxing music higher up.

Activities for children organized daily at the pool.

$15 a night for parking is ridiculous.

Property address will not be recognized by your gps.

The decor is very nice, a big full kitchen, stylish decor, huge bathroom. The staff is very nice and will ask you if you need a ride to the pool in a golf cart or will be very attentive.

There are BBQ facilities outside next to each building. There is some covered parking to protect your car from the very hot desert air.

Loads of jack rabbits on the property, I am not sure how golfers feel about them on the course. I did see a golfer swing a bat at them trying to get them to go away.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floor

Dear guest, I apologize regarding the noise outside of your room. We have spoken to our partners on the golf course to be more sensitive to our guest in the early morning hours. We do not have room service but we do offer several options for breakfast and we will try to honor special requests. We were happy to know that pool side service was to your liking. We will share your feedback with our staff as this is one way we strive to improve our performance.
Hopefully, we can service you again in the future.

Not sure about the last comment posted about dark and 3-5 minute walk. I stayed in the furthest building and thought it was a great walk in nice warm weather. We bought a week here back in December without physically seeing it and it lived up to our expectations. We are owners at another location and this resort is our favorite. It's modern, clean, pool area is great, awesome golf course views. Very friendly staff there can't wait to go back. We've been to many Starwood properties and there all very high quality but this one is our favorite so far.

We went to the Desert Willows Villas Resort over Easter-Passover week since it is newer and received slightly better reviews than the Westin Mission Hills. Landscaping was beautiful but the rooms on the ground floors of the "villas" (more like two story motels) were extremely dark with somber, dark interiors. The higher number rooms have a three to five minute walk to get to the swimming pool. The more distant villas look out onto a construction site for more villas. One family in our party had reservations at the Westin Mission Hills Villas. This was far brighter and seemed more oriented to families with small children. Thanks to a very helpful receptionist, Esther, at the Mission Hills we were able to get rooms for all of us at Westin Mission Hills for the whole stay.
Westin did extend to us the courtesy of letting us move to the Mission Hills property at the same rates without a penalty for leaving Desert Willow.

Dear Guest, I apologize that our decor was not to your liking. We do have shuttles available to give guest rides to our amenities in our main building. I was glad to hear that your group request to be moved to the Mission Hills resort was honored. Please contact me if your need assistance with reservation at either property in the future.
