What is not to like? The entry fee is reasonable, you can stay as long or short as you like. You can walk around the exhibits or buy a pass for the trolley. We come here every season - sometimes it has been our Christmas Eve (day) treat.

The Living Desert is very interesting. During the summer months I suggest going as soon as they open up, before it gets too hot and the animals go hiding from the heat. The Living Desert is large but easly walkable without missing an exhibition. Once it gets too hot, you can visit the hospital and another indoor exhibit. They also have a train with various stops where you can hop on and hop off if walking becomes too much. If not mistaken $ 6.00 per person for full day.
Because of the heat they close at 1:00 PM in the summer months.

This zoo was awesome. It was hot so most of the animals were hiding but we saw plenty and got to feed the giraffes. A pronghorn seemed to love my husband and followed him as we walked along the enclosure. We got to see a beautiful jaguar baby ringtails being feed at the hospital and so many awesome desert plants. The staff was friendly and it was just a great way to spend a morning. Can't wait to go back

We are not normally "zoo people" per se, but this place has a lot more than animals and something for all the family. Perhaps what was just as interesting if not more was the plethora of flora areas. Then, there was the huge surprise of coming across a large, magnificent model railway exhibit. It can get very hot, but so can everywhere for miles around!

The Living Desert is a great place to go with the family. There is interesting exhibit areas where you can watch different animals and great animal shows to see. If you are in the desert during December, you should go to the Living Desert at night. Everything is lit up like a Christmas fairy land.
I try to go there every December. It so beautiful. But remember even if you're in the desert, it's cold at night in December. Wear a warm coat.
