Giraffe enclosure was fantastic, Garden RR was extensive and interesting. Tons of hummingbirds at the exit garden. Overall a good zoo and garden.

It was great way to spend the afternoon. Strolled around at a leisure pace. The Staff was kind, polite and helpful.

We brought our 6 and 4 year old right at opening, planning to stay just a few hours. We got a AAA discount right away so that was nice. There is a baby giraffe, a teenage giraffe, a mama, a feeding twice a day which looked cool - we just watched and that was enough for the kids.
All of the animals seemed lively and awake, maybe because it was around 9am and it was not too hot. There's a small butterfly garden and an animal rehab center if you've got future vets in tow.
Ended up staying about 3.5 hours and could've gone a bit longer to see it all.
We paid for the tram ride around the park, and in hindsight it would be an easy walk, especially if you have a stroller for kids. My "brie and ham" sandwich had one small strip of brie right in the front so it looked like a chunk inside the wrapper. Once opened it was only the part doing the advertising.. so ..food isn't worth the price..bring your own snack!

A trip to the Desert is not complete without a stop in the Living Desert. Open all year, a good time is at Christmas at night to see all the lights. Wonderful animals. For all ages.
