A desert zoo offering a variety of activities. If you are in the area during various holiday periods (Christmas, Halloween, etc.) the Living Desert has some great and unique activities. Good for all ages!

The Living Desert is a fine place for the whole family. Attractions range from a fascinating collection of African and North American animals, an enormous outdoor train garden, a carousel, an African Village, live nature shows and exhibits that teach you about the wonders and diversity of desert life. One of the newest "must sees" is the baby giraffe, born in November 2011.

My wife and I visited The Living Desert with another "Senior's" couple. Although we all have lived much of our life in Southern California, we had not visited this very interesting attraction until recently. We found the animals and displays and the general environment to be very good and quite interesting. We attended a show which featured several free flying birds of prey (obviously they were well trained and knew where the easy food was!) and a few animals of prey. The animals on display seemed to be well adapted to their mostly natural enviroment. We had the opportunity to watch some Veterinarians do surgery on a small lizard's leg. We were in awe of the model train layout which covers a very large area, perhaps 1/2 acre, with trains running throughout the complex. All in all, we enjoyed our five hour visit and rated it very high for a return visit with the younger grandchildren.

Neat place; a nice open-air feel and good walking. n They have some cool collections of animals, but nothing earth-shattering. I go here every time I go to Palm Desert. Very nice place.

This is a delight- and a very educational place to visit. Young children find it fascinating to see many different animals ranging from tiny birds to tigers. Admission prices are very reasonable and they have meerkats which amuse most kids
