I barely saw anything! You can save alittle bit of money by showing your AAA card or pay $11 if you pre-pay at Palm Springs Tourist Center.

“Loved our day at the Living Desert!”
Reviewed December 23, 2011

It was great fun to feed the giraffe—only got slimed just a little :). The leopards were lounging spread-eagled right next to the glass—it’s terrific and unusual to see big cats so relaxed, not pacing or hiding. Also enjoyed the beautiful Mexican wolves and the aviaries (some walk-in). Approximately half the zoo is African and half desert animals. The grounds are beautifully kept, with many small botanical garden specialty areas. We took the mile-long nature walk which includes a look at the San Andreas fault across the valley (binoculars were helpful).

There’s also a large, whimsical model train exhibit that kids of all ages will enjoy. We especially liked the re-creation of El Tovar at the Grand Canyon, and the many elaborately-wrought bridges.

“Festival of Lights- the most romantic time you'll ever have at a Zoo.”
Reviewed December 23, 2011

If you are ever in the Coachella Valley in December, carve out time to go to the Living Desert's Festival of Lights in Palm Desert. It's an after-hours zoo experience you won't forget. Grab a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy strolling through dimly lit paths, listening to Christmas music and viewing the Christmas light displays. It's a great opportunity to get a glimpse of the animals at night when some of them are more active.
